Despite suffering heavy losses and no success in more than five weeks, Ukraine is unlikely to stop its counter-offensive anytime soon. Experts say Ukraine will continue its offensive in the coming weeks, if not months.
Yesterday (July 16), the Russian Defense Ministry said that Ukraine carried out strong attacks in the direction of Donetsk and Krasny Liman. However, these attacks were repelled by Russia.
In a statement, the ministry said Russia's Yug Group of Forces repulsed an attack by Kiev forces near Belogorovka, Severnoye, Orekhovo-Vasilevka, Krasnogorovka, Veseloye, Novomikhailovka, Pervomayskoye and Maryinka in the direction of Donetsk.
The group also destroyed two ammunition depots of the 54th Mechanized Brigade and the 4th Combat Team of Ukraine near Razdolovka and Ivano-Daryevka.
Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 270 soldiers, 2 armored fighting vehicles and 5 vehicles.
At the front lines, the fighting was fierce.
Meanwhile, in the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled three Ukrainian attacks near Novovodyanoye, Makeevka and Serebryansky Forest. The group also targeted several Kiev units near Chervonaya Dibrova, Golikovo and Kuzmino.
Additionally, an ammunition depot of the 66th Mechanized Brigade (Ukraine) located near Novolyubovka was attacked and destroyed.
The Russian Defense Ministry said Kiev sent 100 soldiers, two armored fighting vehicles, three vehicles, an Msta-B and D-30 artillery gun in this direction.
In the southern direction of Donetsk, the active actions of the Vostok Group of Forces led to the neutralization of a large number of personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Priyutnoye (Zaporozhye region) and Rovnopol (self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic).
The activities of a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were also suppressed in Novomikhailovka (self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic).
In the Zaporozhye direction, as a result of coordinated actions of the Russian military, the area of concentration of Ukrainian manpower and equipment was attacked near Marfopol, Malye Shcherbaki and Malaya Tokmachka (Zaporozhye region).
In addition, two ammunition depots of the 33rd and 65th Mechanized Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed near Malaya Tokmachka and Orekhov (Zaporozhye region).
Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 260 Ukrainian servicemen, 3 armored fighting vehicles, 3 motor vehicles, a D-20 and Msta-B artillery.
The Russian Defense Ministry also released a video showing an Msta-S self-propelled gun striking Kiev forces. Meanwhile, other videos published online show the Lancet drone destroying two Ukrainian guns and a rocket launcher.
