On July 16, some sources said that 3 out of 4 parties in the left-wing New Popular Front (NFP) coalition have agreed on the nomination of prime minister , but it is likely to be opposed by the far-left faction in the coalition.

The NFP, a broad coalition of left-wing parties, won the most seats in the last election with 193 out of 577, but not enough to form a majority in the lower house.
Huffpost reported that on July 15, the Socialist, Green and Communist parties of the NFP proposed Ms. Laurence Tubiana as a candidate for prime minister to introduce to President Emmanuel Macron.
Ms. Tubiana, 73, is a diplomat and academic, considered the "mother" or "architect" of the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change - a landmark document, and was also the main negotiator of this agreement.
Since 2017, she has been head of the European Climate Foundation. Although she has been an adviser to the Socialist government, Ms. Tubiana has no affiliation with any political party in France.
However, the proposal was opposed by the far-left party France Undefeated (LFI), the largest faction in the NFP coalition. LFI argued that the candidate should be a member of the party.
LFI MP Paul Vannier said his party would not support Tubiana as prime minister because she shares similar views with centrist President Emmanuel Macron. He said that if LFI supported the proposal, it would be a “betrayal” of the coalition’s voters.
LFI also rejected a proposal by its allies to ask centrist parties to form a coalition capable of winning a vote of confidence in the House of Commons.
Meanwhile, President Macron did not agree to let a representative of the LFI, the largest organization in the left-wing NFP coalition, or a representative of the far-right National Rally (RN) party take on the role of leader of the new government.
In the recent election, Mr Macron's centrist alliance came second with 164 seats in the National Assembly, while the RN came third with 143 seats.
Outgoing French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal is expected to submit his resignation to President Macron in the coming days, and the leader may have to ask Attal to stay in office while France hosts the 2024 Summer Olympics, which begin on July 26.
