On July 18, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee had a working session with Vietnam Airlines Corporation - JSC ( Vietnam Airlines ) regarding investment promotion, trade cooperation, and recommendations to adjust airfares.
Airfare from Hanoi to Cam Ranh is higher than from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Long Bien - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - said that the tourism industry is identified by the province as a spearhead economic sector and it is expected that by 2030 Khanh Hoa will welcome over 20 million visitors.
The province has hired a consulting firm in Dubai to make a strategic plan for tourism development in the province for the period 2025 - 2030 and the following years.
According to Mr. Bien, Khanh Hoa currently has only one point to receive tourists by air, which is Cam Ranh International Airport. In the near future, Thanh Son Airport will be used to receive tourists...
The Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee proposed that Vietnam Airlines pay attention to upgrading and expanding the waiting rooms at Cam Ranh International Airport, and at the same time promote the tourism image of Khanh Hoa province on the airline's flights.
Mr. Cung Quynh Anh - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - pointed out that the current domestic airfares to Khanh Hoa are higher than the average price in other localities, especially during peak season, limiting the number of visitors to Khanh Hoa.
Specifically, the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route departing on the weekend (July 18, 20) has the cheapest round-trip ticket price of 4.98 million VND, the Hanoi - Da Nang - Hanoi route departing on the weekend (July 18, 20) has the cheapest round-trip ticket price of 4.44 million VND.
Meanwhile, also on the above days, the Hanoi - Cam Ranh - Hanoi route has the cheapest round-trip ticket price of 5.6 million VND.
At the same time, a departure point is Hanoi, but to 3 different locations: Ho Chi Minh City (farthest), Da Nang and Khanh Hoa, the ticket price to Khanh Hoa is still the highest, even 10 - 20% higher.
Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed that Vietnam Airlines pay attention to opening more international flights from India, Australia, and Japan to Cam Ranh International Airport.
Consider having a policy to reduce ticket prices for domestic flights to Khanh Hoa in the near future.
Due to many factors
Regarding the fact that domestic airfares to Khanh Hoa are higher than those to other localities, Mr. Le Chi Quan - Deputy Director of Vietnam Airlines' Vietnam regional branch - explained: "Depending on the flight, many empty flights with only 1-2 passengers booked will of course be different from flights with only business class available.
In addition, aircraft resources are also one of the factors (causing high ticket prices - PV)".
Regarding increasing the frequency of night flights to Khanh Hoa, Mr. Quan said that at present, aircraft resources are still a very big problem, not only Vietnam Airlines but also domestic airlines are still facing.
Vietnam Airlines itself is still facing a shortage of resources, leading to no additional frequencies, no opening of new routes to Khanh Hoa, or high ticket prices to Khanh Hoa...
Regarding the expansion of lounges at Cam Ranh International Airport, Mr. Tran Viet Phuong - General Director of Noi Bai Airport Services Joint Stock Company - said that in the near future, the business lounge at Cam Ranh International Airport will be repaired and upgraded.
