Previously, on October 23rd, the Ear, Nose, and Throat Department admitted a 48-year-old female patient with a swollen ear, discharge, and severe pain. Upon examination, doctors discovered a white, moving foreign object resembling a maggot in the ear canal.

After draining the fluid, the medical team removed five live maggots and the carcass of an insect located near the eardrum. According to the doctors, the patient was unable to care for himself. It is likely that an insect crawled into the ear, nested, and laid eggs, leading to the maggots hatching.
Doctors warn that if detected late, the eardrum may be perforated. People need to keep their ears clean and dry and seek medical attention if they experience pain, itching, or unusual discharge, especially young children and those who cannot clean their ears themselves.
