Mr. Chinh shared: after researching and receiving training on the multi-stem coffee cultivation method without pruning, he pioneered its application in the locality and achieved noticeable results. This cultivation technique allows the plant to develop multiple main stems naturally, without pruning the top as traditionally done, helping to create a wide canopy, increase fruit-bearing branches, improve yield, enhance bean quality, save labor costs, and increase resistance to pests, diseases, and drought.
As proof, with the traditional methods used previously, his family only harvested 2-3 quintals of coffee beans per sao (a unit of land measurement), but after applying the new method, the yield increased to 5-6 quintals per sao. Thanks to his eagerness to learn, his diligence in researching and applying scientific and technical methods to farming, Mr. Chinh's family income has become increasingly stable.
As a pioneer in introducing the four-season bamboo shoot variety to the locality, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue in Hamlet 13, Dang Kang Commune, is also gradually leading her family out of poverty sustainably.
Ms. Hue recounted: "Previously, my family had 5 sao (approximately 0.5 hectares) of rice paddies. After deducting expenses, the rice fields only yielded an income of 15-20 million VND per year, keeping my family in poverty. However, after learning about the Four-Season Bamboo Shoots, in 2023 I bought seedlings to plant instead of rice. Thanks to the suitable soil and ease of care, the plants grew very well. In early 2025, the bamboo shoots were ready for harvest. To date, my family has earned over 150 million VND from selling commercial bamboo shoots and seedlings. With this income, my family will strive to escape poverty soon."

The economic model of Mr. Tran Dang Chinh and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hue's family is a vivid example of the effectiveness of restructuring crop and livestock production and applying science and technology to agriculture. Therefore, the government is actively promoting and supporting people to replicate these models, gradually developing household economies and helping people escape poverty.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Duy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dang Kang commune, ethnic minorities currently account for 32% of the total population in the commune, with a relatively high percentage of poor ethnic minority households. Therefore, the commune prioritizes livelihood development and infrastructure investment in the implementation of national target programs, especially the Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program.
Regarding livelihood development, the commune prioritizes investment and support for ethnic minority households. The commune has been supporting livelihood models deemed feasible and effective locally, primarily through the purchase of breeding cattle. Simultaneously, it supports the development of plant seedlings in the area to invest in the development of industrial crops, especially coffee, to ensure sustainable economic development.
In addition, the commune prioritizes supporting poor households in developing livestock, especially providing breeding cattle in the area. Currently, the commune People's Committee is implementing cattle distribution projects and establishing groups to meet and evaluate the investment process, ensuring that the funds reach the intended beneficiaries in accordance with the national target program.

The success in Dang Kang demonstrates a strategic shift in poverty reduction efforts, moving from passive support to livelihood creation—that is, investing in scalable and self-generating models that help people create their own income and completely transform the economic landscape of households.
Support projects have acted as "seed capital," helping people break free from dependence on subsidies and focus on learning and economic activities. The enthusiasm and determination of poor households to "start businesses after receiving support" is evidence that the policy has successfully addressed their needs and aspirations for self-improvement.
It can be affirmed that, with a multi-faceted approach, focusing on changing mindsets and leveraging internal strengths through specific projects, Dang Kang is on the right track in its journey towards sustainable poverty reduction. This will be a solid foundation for the locality to continue implementing socio-economic development goals in the next phase.
| In 2025, Dang Kang commune implemented 7 community production development support projects with a total budget of 3.69 billion VND. These projects aimed to support production development, create livelihoods for households, generate employment, increase income from production (cattle farming), and increase income for poor and near-poor households, contributing to sustainable poverty alleviation for participating households. |
