Acne is a common problem for everyone, especially teenagers. However, if you are an adult and suddenly have a lot of acne on your face, you need to find out the cause in order to treat it.
What is acne?
Acne is considered a dermatological condition caused by the overactivity of the sebaceous glands under the skin. When the sebaceous glands are overactive, sebum becomes blocked in the hair follicles, causing inflammation and forming acne.
Acne typically appears on the face, shoulders, back, and chest and is most common in teenagers.
Acne is considered a dermatological disease.
Some types of acne are not very painful, such as blackheads, whiteheads, and red pimples. However, there are also types of acne that cause pain and discomfort, such as pustules, nodules, and cysts.
If acne only appears for a short time and doesn't cause much pain, we can treat it ourselves. However, if acne becomes increasingly severe and treatment hasn't been effective for over 3 months, we need to see a dermatologist for examination and proper treatment.
We should see a doctor when acne becomes widespread or severe.
Why do I naturally get so many pimples on my face?
Naturally occurring acne breakouts can be caused by overactive testosterone. This is also why acne is common in teenagers.
During puberty, testosterone levels are high, stimulating the sebaceous glands in the skin, causing the skin to produce more oil. This oil, along with dirt, clogs pores, leading to inflammation and acne.
Besides overactive testosterone, naturally occurring acne breakouts can also be caused by medications containing corticosteroids, androgens, or lithium.
Hormonal changes, unhealthy lifestyle habits, and poor diet can all be causes of acne.
Habits like using phones and certain items like helmets and facelifts can naturally increase acne breakouts. We need to regularly clean surfaces that come into contact with our face to ensure we don't transfer bacteria to the skin, and avoid pressing objects against our face for extended periods to prevent clogged pores and acne.
Irregular eating and sleeping habits can also cause acne to naturally appear on the face. Greasy foods, lack of sleep, and stress create conditions for the sebaceous glands to become more active, leading to acne breakouts.
