[Video] Strengthening the fight against corruption and waste in the new context

On the morning of December 9, the National Assembly listened to Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong present a report on anti-corruption work in 2025 and Chairman of the Committee on Law and Justice Hoang Thanh Tung present an inspection report.

Báo Nhân dânBáo Nhân dân09/12/2025

In 2025, the Government and the Prime Minister will resolutely direct ministries, branches and localities to implement the Central Steering Committee's Work Program; issue the National Strategy on Waste Prevention and Control until 2035; review and remove obstacles in projects that are behind schedule, ineffective and at risk of loss.

Through inspection, economic violations of over VND230,000 billion and 75 hectares of land were discovered; administrative sanctions were recommended for nearly 1,900 groups and over 6,500 individuals; 236 cases with 140 subjects were transferred to the investigation agency. The State Audit recommended financial sanctions of over VND34,600 billion and 125 million USD. The prosecution agencies initiated, investigated, prosecuted and tried over a thousand corruption cases, and recovered assets with positive results.

Besides the results, there are still many limitations such as untimely institutionalization; some preventive measures are not effective; harassment in administration and public services is still common; the progress of handling some cases is still slow; the value of assets to be recovered is still large; the situation of avoiding and shirking responsibility still occurs.

The Committee on Law and Justice assessed that the fight against corruption, waste and negativity in 2025 will continue to be promoted, handling many major cases, affirming high political determination, not slowing down or slowing down. However, the Committee requested the Government to clearly analyze the extent to which the "risk" of corruption to the survival of the regime has been pushed back; at the same time, fully identify the limitations, causes and propose breakthrough solutions suitable for the new stage when decentralization and decentralization are increasingly strong.

In 2026, the Government will continue to improve the law, strengthen power control, focus on inspecting areas prone to violations, improve the efficiency of recovering corrupt assets, and promote administrative reform and digital transformation.
