The Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry (VIIC) is a scientific and technological institution under the Vietnam Chemical Corporation (Vinachem), with a 70-year tradition of formation and development. Based on the restructuring orientation according to Decision 1265/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister , the Institute continues to be identified as a key institution, playing a central role in research and development (R&D) for the chemical industry.
Currently, the Institute carries out diverse professional activities in the fields of scientific research, production and business, postgraduate training, technology transfer, and technical services. The Institute's main functional groups include: research and development of technology in the fields of chemistry and environment; scientific and technical consulting and services; cooperation in pilot production and new product development; training of high-level scientific personnel; environmental assessment, analysis, and evaluation; and international cooperation.
The Institute currently has 5 functional departments in the operational block and 15 specialized units in the research, development, and service business block, with a total of nearly 260 staff members. This includes 1 professor, 2 associate professors, 23 PhDs, and 55 master's degree holders, creating a strong scientific and technological workforce capable of researching and implementing tasks from the grassroots to the national level, comprehensively meeting the needs of research, development, and technology transfer in the chemical field.
With its modern laboratory capabilities, highly qualified staff, and integrated research-production-service organizational model, the Institute has great potential to become a hub of innovation and a leading force in science and technology for Vietnam's chemical industry during the green transition and sustainable development period.
In addition to research activities, the Institute also provides reputable scientific and technological services, especially the Chemical and Materials Testing Laboratory – VILAS 067, which currently leads the country in the analysis of lubricating oils and greases, industrial and aviation fuels. Environmental assessment services, chemical safety consulting, product quality testing, etc., are also being expanded, making a significant contribution to the scientific brand of the Institute and the Group.
