The preliminary round of the 2025 Cyber Security Student Competition ended with the dominance of Vietnamese teams, occupying all 10 leading positions.
BlueBox team from the Academy of Cryptography Engineering won the championship, affirming the outstanding capacity of Vietnamese students in the field of cyber security.

This year's competition attracted 1,265 students from 327 teams, representing 34 domestic universities and colleges and 26 international schools from 8 ASEAN countries and Japan.
The Preliminary Round took place online for 8 consecutive hours (from 8:30 to 16:30 on October 18), with 21 in-depth challenges on web security, reverse engineering, cryptography, vulnerability exploitation and digital forensics.
BlueBox team showed impressive performance when successfully conquering 18/21 challenges, achieving 2,679 points and winning the championship.
Next is team Anhchaic2 from University of Information Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University, with 17 challenges and 2,103 points.
Third place went to team RUBY CHAN of the Cryptography Academy Branch in Ho Chi Minh City, completing 16 challenges with 2,040 points.

Notably, the teams ranked from 6th to 10th all scored 1,815 points, showing fierce competition and equal level between the teams. The ranking of this group was determined based on the earlier submission time.
Meanwhile, the two teams TPC1 and TPC2 from Tsukuba University (Japan) were the highest-performing international teams, ranked 25th and 46th respectively.
The 2025 Cyber Security Student Competition is organized by the National Cyber Security Association, under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education and Training. The judging panel consists of more than 30 leading experts from major technology corporations such as Viettel, VNPT, FPT and Bkav.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Head of the Jury, commented: “This year's exam is practical and highly specialized, testing not only knowledge but also strategic thinking and teamwork skills.
A highlight of the contest is the integration of the message of the Hanoi Convention, spreading the spirit of cooperation and responsibility in cyberspace."
After the Preliminary round, the 20 best teams will enter the Final round of Group A, scheduled to take place on November 15 according to the attack and defense model (Attack & Defense).
In addition, 56 other teams will compete in the Group B Finals online, with expanded topics on Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The competition is not only an academic playground but also a strategic activity, contributing to the implementation of the National Cyber Security Human Resource Development Project by 2030.
The success of the Preliminary round affirms the appeal of the competition and Vietnam's pioneering role in creating a safe and reliable network environment for the region.
