Receiving the Deputy Prime Minister and the delegation, Ms. Deemah AIYahya, Secretary General of DCO, introduced the organizational structure, operational objectives, outstanding results as well as positive contributions of the Digital Cooperation Organization, especially in promoting the development of the digital economy .
DCO operates as an international organization, consisting of a board of directors, an executive board, and specialized groups on technology, policy, and international cooperation. The Council is the supreme authority, consisting of representatives appointed by the Ministers of Communications and Information Technology (or equivalent heads and units) of the current member countries of DCO.
The President of the Council is elected periodically from among the representatives of the members, with the duration of each session determined by the Council. The Kingdom of Bahrain currently chairs the Council, with Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya serving a four-year term, starting in 2020.

DCO's main areas of operation include: Developing digital infrastructure and connection networks; Promoting digital economy and technology startups; Training digital human resources; Research and development cooperation in new technologies such as AI, Blockchain, IoT; Digital transformation in government and businesses.
To date, DCO brings together governments from 16 countries, representing a combined GDP of nearly $3.5 trillion and a market of nearly 800 million people, of whom more than 70% are under 35 years of age.
Also at the meeting, DCO Secretary General Deemah AIYahya respectfully invited Vietnam to become an official member of the Digital Cooperation Organization.

DCO has had an AI project in Vietnam and cooperated with the Ministry of Science and Technology. Recognizing that Vietnam has great potential in developing the digital economy, Ms. Deemah AIYahya expressed her desire to strengthen research and cooperation between Vietnam and DCO in this field.
Thanking the Secretary General and DCO leaders for taking the time to receive the delegation, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the vision of the Saudi Arabian Government in establishing the Digital Cooperation Organization.
Affirming the extremely important role of the digital economy, the Deputy Prime Minister said that Vietnam aims for the digital economy to soon contribute about 20% of the country's GDP growth. At the same time, Vietnam has established a new position with increasing prestige and stature in the region and internationally.

Besides, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam has a dynamic economy with high growth rate, many administrative reforms, abundant human resources, full conditions to coordinate, exploit potential, space and create new breakthroughs in digital economy.
Basically agreeing with the invitation for Vietnam to become a member of DCO, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two sides establish a cooperation group and discuss specific tasks to move towards comprehensive cooperation, support, and share research and development, human resource training, technology, AI, etc.
