On October 25th, at the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly , the National Assembly voted electronically to approve the Resolution on ratifying the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Mr. Ho Quoc Dung as Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term. The results were as follows: 430 delegates participated in the vote (90.72% of the total number of National Assembly delegates); of which, 429 delegates voted in favor (90.51% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), and 1 delegate abstained (0.21% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).
Mr. Ho Quoc Dung was born in 1966 in Cat Tai commune, Phu Cat district, former Binh Dinh province (now Gia Lai province). He holds a Senior-level political theory qualification; a Master's degree in Law; is a member of the Central Committee of the 13th Party Congress; and a Member of the 12th National Assembly.
From 2009, he served as Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province for the 2004-2011 term. In June 2011, he became a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province for the 2011-2016 term.
On November 21, 2014, he held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, 18th term, 2010-2015; and Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, 11th term, 2011-2016. In October 2015, he held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, 19th term, 2015-2020; and Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, 11th term, 2011-2016.
On June 24, 2016, he held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, 19th term, 2015-2020; and Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, 12th term, 2016-2021.
On October 15, 2020, at the 20th Congress of the Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, he was elected to the position of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 20th term, 2020-2025. On December 6, 2020, he assumed the position of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 20th term, 2020-2025; and Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Council for the 12th term, 2016-2021.
On January 30, 2021, at the 13th National Congress of the Party, he was elected a member of the 13th Central Committee of the Party for the 2021-2026 term. On June 30, 2025, he assumed the position of Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020-2025 term.
On October 3rd, at the First Congress of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, Bui Thi Quynh Van - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Department - announced the Politburo's decision on the appointment of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary, and Deputy Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the term 2025-2030. Accordingly, the Politburo unanimously agreed to relieve Mr. Ho Quoc Dung - Member of the Central Committee of the 13th Party Congress, Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the term 2020-2025 - from his positions in the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee, and as Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the term 2025-2030, and other related positions, so that the Central Committee can proceed with the process of nominating him for election as Deputy Prime Minister for the term 2021-2026.
