This is an important international event that Vietnam is honored to host in its role as Chair of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants for the 2024-2025 term, aiming to promote green accounting and finance and sustainable development in the region.
This year's conference , themed "Accounting and Green Finance - Shaping a Sustainable Future", focused on discussing issues such as green accounting, sustainability reporting (ESG), green finance models and the role of technology in sustainable development. The program included three in-depth discussion sessions, bringing together many speakers who are international experts from the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), AFA, ACCA, ICAEW, CPA Australia, Big4 auditing firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) and the World Bank (WB).

The 24th ASEAN Conference of Accountants (AFA 24) and the 141st AFA Council Meeting will take place on October 30 and 31, 2025.
Speaking at the press conference, Prof. Dr. Doan Xuan Tien - President of the Southeast Asian Federation of Accountants (AFA), President of the Vietnam Association of Accountants and Auditors (VAA) emphasized: “The 24th AFA Conference takes place in the context of the world facing many environmental, social and economic challenges. The theme 'Green Accounting and Finance - Shaping a Sustainable Future' is a strong and urgent message that we want to send to the business community, organizations and society. The application of green accounting and sustainability reporting not only helps businesses improve transparency and social responsibility, but also creates long-term value, attracts investment and contributes to promoting sustainable development for the economy”.
He added that the conference will be an important platform for ASEAN member countries to strengthen cooperation, share experiences and good practices in the field of accounting and finance. “For Vietnam, actively participating in AFA activities will help us integrate more deeply into the global economy, develop sustainable business models, and affirm the position of the Vietnamese accounting and auditing profession in the international arena,” Prof. Dr. Doan Xuan Tien affirmed.

In particular, the event will also see the handover of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants Chairmanship from Vietnam (2024-2025) to Indonesia (2026-2027) - an important milestone demonstrating the spirit of cooperation and commitment to improving professional standards in the region. The conference is also expected to attract more than 2,500 delegates from ASEAN countries, international organizations, and representatives of management agencies, businesses and professional associations.
In addition to the main discussion sessions, the event also has a series of sideline activities such as an exhibition introducing domestic and international professional organizations and businesses, a Gala Dinner and a cultural tour of the Hoan Kiem Lake area, contributing to strengthening connections and promoting the image of a friendly and integrated Vietnam.
With the message “Go Green, Grow Sustainable”, the AFA 2025 Conference is expected to create a leading regional dialogue forum, promoting the application of green accounting, sustainable finance and digital transformation, contributing to policy orientation and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in the process of green economic development.
