Lai Vung Commune: Workers working abroad have high income

In recent times, the activity of sending workers in Lai Vung commune (Dong Thap) to work abroad under contracts has achieved many positive results, contributing to job creation, increasing income for people and contributing to local socio-economic development.

According to the People's Committee of Lai Vung commune, the locality has been actively implementing the Project of sending workers to work abroad under contracts. Thereby, creating a change in the awareness of workers, contributing to creating a sustainable way out of poverty in the locality.

Thanks to the effective use of the monthly money his children send home, Mr. Le Phuoc Hoa and his wife's life gradually stabilized.

In 2025, the whole commune will have 106 workers working abroad under contract, reaching 115% of the annual plan target. The commune's workers participate in working abroad under contract, mainly in the markets of Taiwan (China), Japan, Korea...

Before entering the foreign labor market, workers mainly worked in agriculture or had just graduated from vocational training institutions... Most workers were evaluated by the host countries and businesses as skillful, hard-working, quick to grasp the job, and productive and high-quality work.

Through the work of sending workers to work abroad under contracts, most workers have a relatively stable income, higher than domestic jobs in the same industry and at the same level. After deducting living expenses abroad of about 10 - 15 million VND/month, workers have an income of 18 - 20 million VND/month in middle-income markets, from 25 - 28 million VND/month in high-income markets.

With experience in the agricultural sector, Mr. Dang Thanh Thuan and his wife, residing in Lai Vung commune, decided to choose to work seasonally in Korea. Mr. Thuan shared: “From the accumulated knowledge, I was not surprised when participating in working in Korea. Korea's agricultural production level is very developed, especially high technology, so I decided to come to learn and work, accumulate more capital and knowledge…”.

With 3 children working in Japan, recently, Mr. Le Phuoc Hoa's family life (Lai Vung commune) has become more and more prosperous, and his business has developed. Mr. Hoa said: "My eldest son's working environment abroad is very comfortable, not too hard, and the income is good, so the family is very secure and continues to support his 2 daughters to work in Japan at the end of 2023. Thanks to the monthly money the children send back, my family invests in the economy , and life gradually stabilizes."

STRENGTHENING MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT FOR WORKERS

According to the People's Committee of Lai Vung commune, the results achieved in the past time are the result of the participation and coordination of the entire local political system, especially the close and regular accompaniment and coordination with Dong Thap Employment Service Center in propaganda, selection and support for workers from the consultation and registration stages to departure and return.

Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hang, Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Lai Vung commune, said: "In the coming time, Lai Vung commune has identified sending workers to work abroad as a key task, determined to achieve and exceed the assigned targets.

In particular, continue to promote information and propaganda work to workers; build a network of consultants in hamlets to promptly grasp the needs and provide labor market information to workers. Along with that, effectively implement policies to support workers to work abroad; create conditions for workers to fully enjoy policies according to regulations.

The commune also monitors and supervises businesses participating in sending workers abroad to operate in the area; focuses on selecting orders with high, safe and stable income, helping workers feel secure in participating; strengthens coordination with unions and hamlets in propaganda, mobilization, visiting and encouraging families with workers abroad, reminding workers to comply with the laws of the host country and return home on time. The commune's goal is to maintain the effectiveness, safety and prestige of the program of sending workers to work abroad for a limited period, contributing to increasing income and stabilizing the economy of local workers...".
