On the morning of July 17, two European teams, Portugal and Norway, officially won tickets to the 2026 World Cup finals.
Portugal became the 31st team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. A 9-1 thrashing of Armenia helped Ronaldo and his teammates finish the qualifying round as Group F winners.
Right after Portugal, Norway also added their name to the list. Erling Haaland and his teammates excellently defeated Italy with a score of 4-1 in the final match, thereby confirming the leading position in Group I.
By winning the group, Portugal and Norway joined 30 other teams that have already secured a place at the 2026 World Cup.
In the European region, England, France and Croatia have already secured tickets. Currently, there are still 11 places for European teams, including 7 direct tickets for the remaining group winners and 4 tickets through the play-off round.
Up to now, in addition to 5 representatives from Europe, there are 8 teams from Asia, 9 teams from Africa, 6 teams from South America, 1 team from Oceania and 3 host countries guaranteed to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
The three host countries are Canada, Mexico and the United States. Meanwhile, Japan was the first team to qualify.
With 32 of the 48 teams already confirmed, the race for the remaining 16 spots is still very intense. Of these, 11 spots are still being competed for in the UEFA region, 3 spots in the CONCACAF region, and the final 2 spots will be decided through the intercontinental play-off round.
List of 32/48 teams qualified for the 2026 World Cup:
Host (3 teams): Canada, Mexico and USA.
Asia (8 teams): Japan, Iran, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Jordan, Australia, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Africa (9 teams) : Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, South Africa, Ivory Coast and Senegal.
South America (6 teams): Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Uruguay, Colombia and Paraguay.
Europe (5 teams): England, France, Croatia, Portugal, Norway.
Oceania (1 team): New Zealand.
