According to the Hanoi Department of Transport Inspectorate, the agency has inspected and reviewed 95 schools that have signed contracts with 300 transport units, involving more than 1,500 vehicles used for transporting students.
Authorities are inspecting and checking school buses in the capital city.
Upon inspection, it was found that the drivers and vehicles generally met the requirements for engaging in passenger transport business by car; the transport unit had signed contracts with schools as required.
Authorities discovered more than 50 cases of school buses violating regulations, with total fines exceeding 165 million VND.
Among the violations, the most prominent are the failure to fully display the name and phone number of the transport business on the outside of both sides of the passenger vehicle; and operating a transport business by car without the required license...
Additionally, violations related to the driver's qualifications (driving a car without a driver's license or without carrying vehicle registration papers).
Violations of legal regulations in the operation of road transport businesses accounted for 35 cases.
Mr. Cao Van Hiep, Deputy Chief Inspector of the Hanoi Department of Transport, said that in the coming time, the Department's Inspectorate will continue to direct the Transport Inspection Teams to maintain coordination with the Department of Education and Training and the police of districts, counties, and towns to strengthen inspection and control of student transportation activities, ensuring traffic safety conditions for contracted student transport vehicles in the area.
"We request that schools refrain from signing transportation contracts with unqualified transport companies; and terminate transportation contracts with vehicles and drivers that do not meet the required standards."
"In parallel, we require transport companies and drivers to absolutely not carry more passengers than the规定 number, not use vehicles with expired registration, vehicles without 'contract vehicle' badges or with expired badges, and drivers without a driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle they are operating," Mr. Hiep said.
