Fines and revocation of medical examination and treatment license at Can Tho General Clinic

On February 3, the Inspector of the Can Tho City Department of Health announced that it had decided to impose an administrative fine and revoke the operating license of the Can Tho General Clinic.

Previously, following complaints from residents, a team from the Can Tho Department of Health conducted a surprise inspection of the Can Tho Multi-Specialty Clinic (133A Tran Hung Dao Street, Thoi Binh Ward, Ninh Kieu District) and discovered numerous violations in its medical examination and treatment activities.

Specifically, the Can Tho Multi-Specialty Clinic, under the professional supervision of Mr. Ngo Van My, violated regulations by providing medical examination and treatment services beyond its permitted scope and failing to fully implement infection control measures at the medical facility.

For this violation, the administrative penalty is 135 million VND; the additional penalty is the revocation of the medical examination and treatment license for a period of 3 months (from the date of receiving the decision).

In addition, the Inspectorate of the Department of Health of Can Tho City also imposed an administrative fine of 8 million VND on individuals at Can Tho Multi-Specialty Clinic for violating regulations by registering to practice at multiple facilities simultaneously or working outside of registered hours.

The Can Tho General Clinic was fined 23 million VND for not having a drug storage facility and selling expired or recalled drugs.

In the fields of surgery and obstetrics, clinics that violate professional and technical regulations are fined 15 million VND in each field, and their practice certificates are revoked and their operations suspended for 2 months.

The total administrative fine imposed on Can Tho Multi-Specialty Clinic for violations in the practice of medical examination and treatment at the facility is 196 million VND.

Simultaneously, an additional penalty was imposed: the Can Tho Multi-Specialty Clinic was stripped of its medical examination and treatment license for a period of 3 months. The professional licenses of the individuals involved in the violations were also revoked for a period of 2 months.

According to the Can Tho City Department of Health, in recent times, inspection forces have regularly carried out inspections to review and rectify the activities of medical examination and treatment and practitioners at medical facilities in accordance with the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment.
