Preliminary statistics show that more than 100 universities nationwide have added X06 (math, physics, IT) and X26 (math, English, IT) to the list of admission combinations this year. This shows a change in admission orientation after implementing the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 general education program.
In addition to familiar subjects such as math, physics, and English, these combinations have added computer science to focus on core skills of the digital age.

The two "locomotives" in applying these new complexes are the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
All majors in these two schools, related to information technology and computers, use X06 and X26. This emphasizes the importance of information technology in today's key industries.
X06 is also a priority admission combination when entering the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University. This school also recruits X26 for many new majors such as: Business Administration, Digital Business, etc.
In addition to the familiar combinations A00, A01, D01, D07, the University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City National University applies two brand new combinations X26 and X25 (math, English, economic and legal education).
The spread of X26 is also present in the admission combination of the University of Industry and Trade in the fields of information technology, information security, and data science.
Similarly, the University of Commerce also reserves many quotas for X26 to enter the fields of business administration, hotel management, marketing, accounting, auditing, logistics and supply chain management, international business, economics, banking and finance, e-commerce, etc.
This is a trend of increasingly deep intersection between technology and economics.

It can be seen that both of these combinations focus on key subjects, requiring logical thinking, superior calculation ability and especially solid information technology skills. These are essential qualities for students in the digital age, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources in the labor market.
Potential industries are in the fields of information technology, economics - business, engineering - technology, data science, computer science pedagogy...
Although it is widely used, because it is a new subject in the graduation exam and university entrance exam, the number of candidates choosing it is still limited.
In the 2025 high school graduation exam, there were 1,733 candidates with the X06 admission combination. The valedictorian was a candidate (registration number (SBD) 28039614) from Thanh Hoa province with a perfect score of 10 in IT, 9.5 points in math, and 9.75 points in physics.
The runner-up is candidate (candidate number 24000364) from Ha Nam (old), now Ninh Binh. This candidate got 9 in math, 10 in physics, 9.5 in IT, with a total score of 28.5 points.
There are 244 candidates who scored 24 points (average 8 points/subject) or more in group X06, accounting for more than 14%.
With the X26 group, there were 2,713 candidates taking the exam. The valedictorian was the candidate (SBD 01008731) from Hanoi with 10 in math, 9.75 in IT and 9.5 in English.
