This afternoon (November 18th), at the home of Captain Tran Trung Hieu's parents (32 years old) in Thanh Chuong residential area, Tien Dien town, Nghi Xuan district ( Ha Tinh province), hundreds of people, relatives, and comrades gathered to bid him farewell to his final resting place.
In the small house, Ms. Ha Thi Cam Tu (born in 1993, wife of Captain Tran Trung Hieu) was sobbing uncontrollably, being supported by relatives and her husband's comrades amidst her choked sobs. The young wife still couldn't accept the immense loss of her husband, the father of two children, who had suddenly passed away, especially since just two hours earlier he had texted her promising to buy toys for the children after finishing his work.
"Just before, he texted me, promising to buy toys for our child after his assignment and planning a family trip. He even told me he would try to build a house next year. But now, everything is left unfinished, and he's left me and our child like this...", Ms. Tú sobbed uncontrollably at her husband's funeral.
Ms. Tú recounted that in the early afternoon of November 13th, in a social media message, Mr. Hiếu reminded his wife that after this work period was over, he would take the whole family on a trip . "Don't forget the plastic water guns for Thỏ and Mận to play with, Dad," Ms. Tú reminded him. And then Captain Hiếu replied: "How could I forget? I'll buy them tonight!" – Ms. Tú recalled her husband's words, and that promise will forever remain in those text messages.
About two hours after texting her husband, Ms. Tú received devastating news: Mr. Hiếu had been stabbed multiple times with scissors by Trần Trọng Gia Bảo (26 years old), a suspected drug dealer (synthetic marijuana), at Chợ Củi temple. She rushed to the hospital and was shocked to hear the doctor say her husband's prognosis was poor.
Four days in the hospital caring for her husband, Ms. Tú said it was the longest and most difficult time of her life. When he became anemic, she posted information online and immediately received hundreds of shares and support, even though AB is a rather rare blood type. They had enough blood, but the doctors predicted his health condition was very poor. They thought all their efforts, along with those of her colleagues and relatives, would save his life, but tragically... her husband passed away at the age of 32.
This afternoon, Colonel Nguyen Hong Phong, Director of the Ha Tinh Provincial Police, along with representatives from the Party Committee, the Police Directorate; the leadership of Nghi Xuan District Police; local Party committees and authorities; and officers and soldiers were also present to hold a farewell ceremony for Captain Tran Trung Hieu.
Lighting incense in remembrance, the officers, soldiers, and comrades of Captain Hieu also wrote touching farewell messages. In the condolence book, Colonel Nguyen Hong Phong wrote: "Upon receiving the news that you have passed away, I, like thousands of officers and soldiers, was shocked and couldn't believe it was true."
Now, all we can say is thank you: Thank you to your parents and your hometown of Nghi Xuan for giving birth to you - Captain Tran Trung Hieu, loyal to the Party and devoted to the people. Thank you for your dedication, your efforts, and your self-sacrifice for the peace and happiness of the people... We promise you, our young comrade, that the officers and soldiers of the Ha Tinh Provincial Police will strive to push back drug crime from society, so that your sacrifice will be even more meaningful, for the peaceful lives of the people.”
At the memorial service, hundreds of officers, soldiers, and citizens expressed their sorrow over the courageous actions and noble sacrifice of Captain Tran Trung Hieu, as well as his dedication and service in the police force.

On November 17th, General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, signed a decision to promote Tran Trung Hieu, a police officer from Xuan Hong commune, Nghi Xuan district (Ha Tinh province), to the rank of Captain. Hieu died while on duty.
