On May 13th, the official website of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) published a notice requesting businesses, organizations, and individuals owning e-commerce websites and applications to review and remove advertisements for items featuring Australian 2 USD bills with the "yellow flag" printed on them.
Australian $2 bills featuring the "yellow flag" are being offered for sale on social media sites in Australia.
This statement quotes information from the Department of Foreign Affairs, which has requested Australia to stop the circulation of A$2 coins bearing the "yellow flag" of a defunct regime. The Department of Foreign Affairs also requested that Australia prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
Accordingly, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy requests that businesses, organizations, and individuals owning e-commerce websites and applications review and remove Australian $2 bills and other similar items and collectibles bearing the "yellow flag" image that are currently being sold on their websites and e-commerce applications.
The Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy also requested that e-commerce platforms implement measures, including keyword research, technical solutions, and personnel, to remove stalls and items featuring the Australian $2 coin and other similar items and collectibles with the "yellow flag" image from their platforms.
Previously, on May 4th, Responding to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's reaction to some items released in Australia featuring the "yellow flag," Ms. Pham Thu Hang, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that Vietnam resolutely opposes the release of items by the Royal Australia Mint and Australia Post with the image of the "yellow flag," the flag of a regime that no longer exists.
Affirming that this action is inconsistent with the positive development trend of the Vietnam-Australia Strategic Partnership, Ms. Pham Thu Hang also stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested the Australian side to stop the circulation of these items and prevent similar incidents from occurring again.
