(HNMO) - Vietnam demands that relevant Chinese agencies abide by the common understanding of the high-level leaders of the two countries, immediately cease all infringing activities, and withdraw the Xiangyang Hong 10 vessel and other coast guard and fishing vessels from Vietnamese waters.
Specifically, on May 25th, in response to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's reaction to the recent intrusion of the survey vessel Huong Duong Hong 10, along with Chinese coast guard and fishing vessels, into Vietnam's exclusive economic zone, Deputy Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang affirmed:
"Recently, as reported, the Chinese survey vessel Xiangyanghong 10, along with several coast guard and fishing vessels, encroached upon Vietnam's exclusive economic zone, established in accordance with the provisions of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea . The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant Vietnamese agencies have repeatedly engaged with the Chinese side and implemented measures in accordance with international law and Vietnamese law to ensure Vietnam's legitimate rights and interests."
Vietnam demands that relevant Chinese agencies abide by the common understanding of the high-level leaders of the two countries, immediately cease all infringing activities, withdraw the Xiangyang Hong 10 vessel and other coast guard and fishing vessels from Vietnamese waters, respect Vietnam's sovereignty and jurisdiction, strictly implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC), maintain peace, cooperation and development in the South China Sea, and contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
