Elementary school asked to remove moral wall murals teaching about cause and effect

Previously, according to readers' feedback, on the morning of September 9, reporters recorded that in many locations such as in front of the entrances to some classrooms, the hallways of the grade levels, and outside the area of the Board of Directors of Quang Trung Primary School, Phu My Ward, many large-sized paintings of school ethics had recently been hung.

The pictures show many sentences that teach moral lessons to students. Each small picture has a note below that says “what you do” will result in the same “result”.

The picture of the school ethics painting hung at Quang Trung Primary School (Phu My Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) was taken on the morning of September 8.

Some cause and effect sentences in moral paintings hung at school:

"Cause: Support with money and effort to build the school - Effect: Success in education for many generations".

"Cause: Not stopping bad people from doing wrong - Effect: Loss of ability, incompetence".

"Cause: Inviting people to use intoxicants - Effect: Insomnia, ignorance, madness"...

These paintings are published by a private company in Ho Chi Minh City.

Next to these paintings, Quang Trung Primary School hung some school rules boards, slogans of the education sector, and traditional boards introducing the glorious tradition of the Young Pioneers Team...

Some parents have told us that the content of the paintings is not suitable for the educational environment, especially at the primary level.

Meanwhile, Article 20 of the Law on Education clearly states: "Do not propagate religion or conduct religious rituals in educational institutions of the national education system, state agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations and the people's armed forces" - Article 20 of the Law on Education.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Dang Van Hung, Chairman of Phu My Ward People's Committee, said that as soon as the information was received, Phu My Ward People's Committee directed relevant agencies to verify the incident. Through discussions with the leaders of Quang Trung Primary School, the school confirmed that these paintings were hung. The Ward People's Committee requested Quang Trung Primary School and schools under the Ward People's Committee to review and comply with the provisions of Article 20 of the Education Law dated June 14, 2019.

The content of the school ethics painting is posted on the wall of Quang Trung Primary School, Phu My Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

At the same time, on the morning of September 9, the Ward People's Committee assigned the leaders of the Department of Culture - Society and specialists in charge of the education sector to work with the Board of Directors of Quang Trung Primary School.

Accordingly, the Board of Directors of Quang Trung Primary School explained that these paintings have content to supplement students' moral education, however the school has not thoroughly checked the publishing company.

After being thoroughly informed by the leaders of the Department of Culture and Society, the school leaders realized that hanging these paintings was not in accordance with the regulations in Article 20 of the Education Law dated June 14, 2019. The leaders of Quang Trung Primary School completely removed these paintings from the school.

Mr. Dang Van Hung also affirmed that in the coming time, the Ward People's Committee will continue to thoroughly implement legal regulations at affiliated educational institutions.
