| Cement exports are sluggish, businesses face pressure to sell. In the first eight months of 2023, Vietnam's cement and clinker exports decreased in both volume and value. |
According to data from the General Statistics Office, clinker and cement exports in October 2023 reached 2.6 million tons with a value of 103 million USD, an increase of 22.8% in volume and 14.8% in value compared to October 2022.
In the first 10 months of the year, the cement industry exported more than 26 million tons of products, earning $1.125 billion, equivalent to the output of the same period last year but with a 2.4% decrease in value.
The export prices of cement and clinker continue to decline, which is why export volume has not decreased, but the value of foreign currency earned has slightly declined.
The Philippines continues to be Vietnam's largest export market for this product, with over 6.17 million tons, valued at over $277 million after nine months, a 3% increase in volume but a slight 1.4% decrease compared to the same period last year. The average export price reached $45 per ton, a decrease of $1 per ton compared to the same period last year.
