On February 10th, Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Quang Nam province, confirmed that, as of now, 26 officials under the management of the Provincial Party Standing Committee have submitted applications for early retirement, including 8 secretaries and 3 deputy secretaries of district Party committees, along with a number of leaders from various departments and agencies.

According to Mr. Dung, those who request early retirement do so for the common good and to create opportunities for younger people to continue developing their intellect and talents in response to the demands of the current period.

Those who applied for early retirement in this round had less than 30 months of service since their new term began.

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee acknowledges the contributions and dedication of those who requested early retirement due to the streamlining and reorganization of the apparatus; and will consider each case individually.

Previously, on February 8th, during a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the central government delegation, the Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, Le Van Dung, stated that the province had completed the reorganization of administrative units at the commune and district levels (reducing the number of districts by 1 and communes/wards by 8). This included the completion of the plan to reorganize provincial-level departments and agencies, as well as district-level offices, which are awaiting submission to the People's Councils at all levels.

The province also approved the plan after restructuring, reducing the number of departments to 13 out of 19 (a 31.6% reduction), the number of internal units within departments to 21.8%, and the number of internal units within public service units to 18.5%.

To date, 443 people have expressed their desire and submitted applications for early retirement or resignation, including 23 people under the management of the Standing Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee.
