Attending the ceremony were Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; also present were representatives from various ministries, departments, agencies, and units. On behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, former Central Committee member and Chairman of the Central Council for Literary and Artistic Theory and Criticism, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky, emphasized that on June 21, 2024, the Politburo issued Conclusion No. 84-KL/TW on continuing to implement Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW of the Politburo (10th term), building and developing Vietnamese literature and art in the new era, in response to new requirements. These two important Party documents both affirm and highlight the position, role, and contributions of literature and art to social life: "Focusing on the unique, sensitive, and subtle nature of literature and art, while ensuring development in accordance with the Party's political and ideological direction, and ensuring freedom and democracy in creation; strongly arousing and promoting the aspirations for contribution and creative capacity of artists and writers."
Regarding theoretical and critical work in literature and art, Conclusion No. 84-KL/TW emphasizes the necessity of vigorously developing research, theory, and criticism activities based on Marxist aesthetics, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and the Party's views on literature and art; promoting the values and identity of national culture and arts; and absorbing the cultural and artistic essence of the world …
Authors whose works received a C rating received an award from the Organizing Committee.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky stated that from 2012 to the present, the Council has organized 10 rounds of selection and awarding prizes to high-quality theoretical and critical works; and commended publishing and press agencies with outstanding achievements in the work of promoting and creating literature and art - "a very important and particularly delicate field of culture" as affirmed in Resolution 23-NQ/TW of the Politburo.
"In order to select, evaluate, and decide on the annual awarding of prizes for high-quality works of literary and artistic theory and criticism, the Council places special emphasis on the academic merit, novelty, approach, and research methods of the authors when addressing specific issues, phenomena, trends, or cases in literature and art, especially the contribution of the award-winning works to creative practice; theoretical and critical research; and the promotion and reception of the works' value," Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky assessed.
The organizing committee awarded prizes to authors who received honorable mentions.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky, an award is considered prestigious, serious, objective, rigorous, and practical only when it meets high, even stringent, requirements. For this reason, in some previous award seasons, the Steering Committee and the Final Judging Panel did not award the A level prize. This year's award season is no exception.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam and Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong presented awards to 18 press and publishing agencies and units for their outstanding achievements in promoting literary and artistic theory and criticism in 2023.
With 118 entries (including 34 books and 84 articles), the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to 25 works, including: 4 works receiving the B Prize; 12 works receiving the C Prize; and 9 works receiving the Encouragement Prize. The 4 works receiving the B Prize include: "Sketches of Vietnamese Cinema in the Era of Renovation and Integration" by Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, "Anchoring Words" by theorist and critic Nguyen Hoai Nam, "The Art of Decorating Village Temples in Binh Duong" by Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, and "Nguyen Binh - The Soul of the Nation Shines Brightly on Dok Paper" by poet Nguyen Si Dai.
In addition, 18 press and publishing agencies and units with outstanding achievements in promoting literary and artistic theory and criticism in 2023 were also awarded on this occasion.
