This is the second year the competition has been held online on the platform promoting the image of Vietnam at https://vietnam.vn. Compared to 2023, the competition has seen a significant increase in participation, with authors from all 63 provinces and cities. Hanoi leads in the number of entries, followed by Quang Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition and award announcement, Central Committee member and Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that the "Happy Vietnam 2024" photo and video contest is an important event to honor people from all over the country, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends who apply digital technology to create photos and videos about the image of Vietnam and its people.
Over 10,000 stories about a peaceful, beautiful, and happy Vietnam have been recorded by authors through images and videos. From mountainous regions to urban centers, from the mainland to islands, from everyday occurrences to heroic moments of the nation.

“For border guards, happiness is working together to build and behold a prosperous, beautiful, and developed Vietnam's border region. Athletes find happiness when the national flag appears on the international stage; doctors find happiness in saving many patients.”
"The happiness of ethnic minorities lies in preserving their traditional culture and promoting it to people both domestically and internationally, in studying hard to return and serve their homeland, and in watching their homeland develop day by day… Happiness is sometimes simply being yourself, and happiness often comes from the simplest things around us," the Minister of Information and Communications recalled the photos and videos that captured moments of happiness.
Many authors offer perspectives that, while not professional, are vivid and very close to real life, reflecting the multifaceted concept of happiness. Despite the short films and photographs taken with mobile phones, the authors still manage to tell lively stories about life around them.
Digital technology helps people record, preserve, and share the happy moments they experience. Happiness is something grand, yet it resides within us. It's familiar and simple. But sometimes we have happiness and let it slip away, forget it, or pass by without realizing it. The "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest also conveys the message to capture moments, both joyful and sad, that ultimately lead to a better life.

“According to the World Happiness Report 2024, published on March 20, 2024, Vietnam is among the top 10 happiest countries or territories in Asia. Vietnam ranks 54th globally, an increase of 11 places compared to 2023. This journey towards happiness is partly due to the contributions of the people, and the Happy Vietnam 2024 Awards Ceremony reflects a part of those contributions. This is proof of the widespread influence of the Happy Vietnam spirit, which has transcended the boundaries of a competition, a country, or a region,” Minister Nguyen Manh Hung assessed.
The Organizing Committee stated that the competition is a testament to the patriotic spirit and dedication of people across the country in promoting images of the nation's people, culture, and beautiful traditions to the international community. At the same time, the competition also demonstrates a new trend in social media communication, based on the application of digital technology, digital platforms, and mobilizing the strength of the entire population in developing digital data to effectively serve information and propaganda work.

Many works presented a fresh, objective perspective on life, society, and the development of Vietnam and its people, conveying a message of a happy, civilized, and prosperous Vietnam. Many works recreated the creative journeys of the authors, connecting them to the flow of life over the past year and linking them to the people they met and interacted with. The competition also helped the authors embark on special journeys, meeting, honoring, and spreading the image and values of these extraordinary individuals.
The authors come from diverse professions, age groups, ethnicities, languages, and use various devices, yet they all portray a peaceful, beautiful, dynamically developing, and happy Vietnam.
The organizers selected 60 videos and 150 photos for display at the exhibition, with 34 outstanding works receiving awards. Each photo and video category had 17 awards, including 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals, 10 Encouragement Awards, and 1 award for the most popular entry.
