As the announcement date of high school graduation exam results (July 16) and the time for registration, adjustment, and addition of admission wishes (from July 16 to 28) are getting closer, candidates have many questions that need to be answered to realize their dream of being admitted to their favorite university or college.

The 2025 University and College Admissions Consulting Day was organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training on July 19, at the campus of the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University and Hanoi University of Technology. Many candidates had prepared questions and issues to bring to the festival.

Nguyen Phuc Quynh Nhi (Tanh Linh High School, Lam Dong ):

Fear of information errors

In addition to the two compulsory subjects of literature and math, I chose to take two subjects: chemistry and English. The combination I plan to take is D01 and D07. For me, this year's exam is quite difficult, especially the English subject. I plan to apply for the Computer Science major at the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University). In addition, I also want to apply to the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

Choosing a hot major at a hot school, I considered other admission methods, in order of priority: priority admission method, high school graduation exam score and competency assessment test score, considering transcripts combined with IELTS certificate... I think such multi-method admission will help me feel more secure in a situation where standard scores are unpredictable like this year.

In addition, I am also a bit worried about the possibility of information errors. For example, with the priority admission method of the University of Natural Sciences, last year the school considered on a 10-point scale, but this year it uses a 30-point scale. Although the school has announced the scoring method, I still cannot imagine or estimate the school's standard score.

Nguyen Chi Hung (Le Trong Tan High School, Ho Chi Minh City):

Unsure how to apply online

Having just passed the high school graduation exam, I feel quite special, this year's exam was new and somewhat "tricky". I was most confident with math, but the exam wasn't really difficult, but it was very easy to get wrong. English was really "super difficult", there were many words that I really couldn't figure out.

I plan to apply to university based on both my graduation exam score and my academic records at private schools. My first choice is architecture at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture because this is my passion and my family is also working in this field. If I don't have enough points to get into architecture, I will choose planning, then study for a second degree in architecture after graduation.

However, what I am most concerned about right now is how to register for admission online. I still do not understand the steps and how to do it, so I really hope that teachers and seniors can answer me.

Vo Ha Thao Nguyen (Binh Hung Hoa High School, Ho Chi Minh City):

Find more schools that take assessment into account

I don't have my exam results yet, and I'm a little worried that the results won't be as expected and that I'll disappoint my parents. But then I think, this exam is just the beginning, so I can't let the worry drag on forever.

I have passed the high school graduation exam, the first round of the competency assessment exam and the aptitude test of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts. My plan is to be admitted based on my academic record because my academic record is quite good, but I am not sure about the other two exam scores.

I chose the Graphic Design major at Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts because I love drawing and want to study in a creative environment with people who share the same passion. If I don't meet the requirements, I will consider the Nutrition major at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry.

I really want to know more about public schools that still consider transcripts and majors that consider Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test scores below 700. It would be great if I could get more advice on this part...

Tran Minh Nhut (Nguyen Huu Canh High School, An Giang):

Want to learn more about job opportunities?

After finishing the exam, apart from the challenging math subject, I found the other three subjects to be within my ability. The major I chose was logistics and supply chain management. I chose this major because I like the dynamic, flexible and active working environment.

I have consulted information about the profession on the Internet and seniors, learned more about job opportunities after graduation, required skills and salary. I put this wish to Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport.

I would like to hear more about the training program, the school's training results over the years, and whether I have the opportunity to interact with foreigners. In addition, I would like to know more about the costs that often arise during the study process, how to arrange study time to be able to work part-time, the scholarship program, and what I will learn in the first year.

Nguyen Thanh Tu (Long Xuyen High School, An Giang):

Questions about the tourism program

I chose to apply based on my high school graduation exam score, group C00. My first choice is tourism, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University). Last year, the school required 28.33 points for this major with a very high competition rate.

I asked my teachers at school for advice on how to put my wishes on the list and they advised me that after knowing my scores, I should put my most favorite wishes first, even if last year's standard score of that major and school was higher than my exam score. Next are the wishes with scores that I can pass.

I have looked up the tuition fees of the schools and feel that it is within my family's ability to pay. The question now is how the tourism curriculum of each school is different, will I learn more theory or experience and have more opportunities for advancement in the future.

Bui Quoc Trung (Petrus Ky Primary and Secondary School, Binh Duong):

Need more help

The recent graduation exam was really not easy at all. Especially in English, there were some questions that I couldn’t even understand what the question was asking. I still felt confident with the history exam, but the subject that worried me the most was math, not only because it was difficult, but also because it greatly affected the total score for admission.

Now I am worried, nervous, and a little scared. But I think it's not just me but many of you too, because difficult questions are difficult in general. I just hope that the benchmark scores of schools this year will be a little "easier to breathe" so that opportunities will be more open.

I plan to apply mainly based on my high school graduation exam scores, and I have also taken an aptitude test to have an additional option. I really hope to be admitted to the journalism program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University). If not, my backup plan is the marketing program at the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

During the preparation for the admission exam, I was fortunate to have the support of my family, friends and teachers, so I did not encounter any significant obstacles. What I need most right now is the trust and encouragement from everyone to have more strength to continue the journey ahead.
