
The current situation of IT labor in Vietnam
With the strong impact of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution and the Government's orientation towards digital economic development, the information technology (IT) labor market in Vietnam is growing strongly, creating a long-term "thirst" for human resources.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Science and Technology , the country currently has about 74,000 enterprises operating in the IT sector with more than 1.2 million workers. To meet the needs of the economy, it is estimated that by 2030, Vietnam will need 3 million workers in this field.
The Vietnam IT market report also said that by 2025, the IT industry in Vietnam is expected to need about 700,000 new employees. However, currently, domestic training facilities can only meet the demand of about 500,000 people.
In the context of Vietnam's economy promoting digital transformation, IT is present in almost all areas of life. IT graduates can work in domestic and international enterprises and organizations or freelance in many different roles such as programmers, software engineers, testers, system analysts, network administrators or technology entrepreneurs.
In addition to wide job opportunities, IT is also one of the industries with high income. According to JobOKO's 2025 Job Market Report, in 2024, IT will continue to be among the leading industries in terms of salary in Vietnam.
