AI TV brings Euro 2024 matches home

Ahead of the final round of the European Football Championship (Euro) 2024, which will kick off in Germany from June 14, technology companies have launched many TV lines processed by artificial intelligence (AI TV) right on the device to optimize the user experience.

In May, Samsung Vina introduced the AI ​​TV generation, demonstrating AI TV for users in the Vietnamese market to experience. With the AI ​​processing chip generation Samsung NQ8 AI Gen3 for AI TV 8K and Samsung NQ4 AI Gen2 for AI TV 4K lines, these new TV lines can use the power of neural networks that are enhanced in quantity and speed to upgrade images and sounds.

Accordingly, the AI ​​Upscaling Pro (AIUP) feature will increase the image quality from all types of sources (SD, HD, FHD) to approach the 4K/8K standard for bright, clear images. The AIUP feature can even upgrade images from 4K sources to about 90% of the original 8K image. AI TV lines are equipped with fast motion support features, which are also a "weakness" when filming and broadcasting sports matches. Specifically, the features automatically recognize, upgrade images, and add details to fast-moving scenes using AI. AI with deep learning algorithms will understand which sport the user is watching to detect and process the ball image specifically for that sport. For example, in a soccer match, AI will stick to the player's feet, detect, and process so that the ball appears clear and realistic, even when it is rushing away.

LG in 2024 also launched Smart TV lines with AI features with the power of the alpha AI Processor 4K chip line that automatically optimizes sound and image. With the alpha 11 chip, the new OLED TV has an upgraded AI feature that uses pixel-level image analysis to sharpen objects, blur backgrounds and refine and analyze nuances to best convey the mood and emotions portrayed on the screen. The Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro feature divides the image into blocks and adjusts brightness/contrast based on the scene.

On June 3, Sony Electronics Vietnam introduced the Sony BRAVIA 2024 TV series (Bravia 9, 8, 7, 3) with comprehensive image upgrades to home cinema standards. With the intelligent XR cognitive processor, the new generation of Sony BRAVIA TVs sets the standard for home cinema experience by reproducing true images according to the original intentions of the filmmakers. The XR cognitive processor automatically recognizes each scene and facial expression of the character, analyzes the data with high precision, and then optimizes the image to bring the highest fidelity. The X-Anti Reflection automatic adjustment feature overcomes image reflection on the screen due to the impact of outdoor light, helping the screen display uniformly and realistically. In addition, the X-Wide Angle feature optimizes the image to display accurately at every angle for every viewing position.

Viewers experience sound as if they were actually sitting in the stadium stands, especially when connecting the TV to a high-quality sound system.

The Acoustic Multi-Audio+ technology of Sony's 2024 Bravia series takes advantage of the surrounding speaker arrangement, amplifying the vivid sound field. Acoustic Surface-Audio technology with a speaker system integrated right on the screen, brings the sound field to the screen and matches the displayed image, thereby increasing the realistic sound intensity in each scene. The Voice Zoom 3 feature with AI sound separation technology can accurately identify voices, allowing users to automatically adjust the volume up and down for vivid, realistic background sounds.

Financial capacity is a barrier for many people who want to buy a large-screen TV. Therefore, near the Euro season, manufacturers have combined with distributors and retailers to set up many flexible shopping options for users. In addition to deep discount promotions, there are old-for-new programs, 0% interest installment programs with low or no down payment required. LG has lines such as OLED 97, 88, 83, 77 inches; QNED Mini LED 86 and 75 inches; Nano Cell 86 and 75 inches. These are high-end TVs with AI processors, so the prices are also very high. For example, the 97-inch 4K OLED and 88-inch 8K cost up to 890 million VND. The QNEQ line is cheaper, the 86-inch model costs from 64 million to nearly 220 million VND; the Smart TV UHD 4K line costs from 20.5 million VND (75 inches) and from 32.1 million VND (86 inches).

Chinese brand TCL also launched a series of super-large TV models: 75, 85, 98 and 115 inches. For 98-inch TVs, the QLED TV line is priced from 70 million VND, while the QD-Mini LED 4K line is priced from 110 million VND. Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) has cooperated with Viettel Telecom to coordinate live broadcasting of all matches at Euro 2024 on HTV channels to serve fans in Vietnam.
