An Giang storm and tornado collapsed and blew off roofs of 38 houses

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, on September 11, in the communes of Vinh Xuong, Chau Phong, An Phu, Nhon Hoi, Cho Vam and Long Phu ward, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and whirlwinds collapsed and blew off the roofs of 38 houses, 1 classroom, and 1 library. The estimated damage was over 720 million VND.

Specifically, Long Phu ward has 8 houses with damaged roofs; Vinh Xuong commune has 1 house with damaged roof; Chau Phong commune has 7 houses with completely damaged roofs, 1 library room with damaged roof at Phu Vinh "B" Primary School; An Phu commune has 5 houses with completely damaged roofs, 11 houses with 20% - 90% damage, 1 house completely collapsed; Nhon Hoi commune has 4 houses with 30% - 50% damage, 1 classroom with damaged roof at Phu Hoi "B" Primary School; Cho Vam commune has 1 house with over 70% damaged roof, 1 house with less than 30% damaged roof.

In addition, thunderstorms also put some crops and livestock in An Phu commune at risk of damage. The commune is continuing to check and supplement.

Immediately after the storm occurred, local leaders mobilized police and military forces along with local people to support affected families in cleaning up and repairing their houses to stabilize their lives.

The People's Committee of An Phu commune coordinated with An Giang Electricity Company to directly cut off power in the storm-hit area; specialized units and hamlet people's committees are continuing to count and summarize detailed damage to report to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment.
