New leaked images of the first R&D phase for the iPhone 16 Pro battery component, shared by the well-known leaker Kosutami on X, reveal not only a higher capacity battery but also its specifications.
The report states that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 3,355 mAh battery and a charging voltage limit of 4.48V. Theoretically, the iPhone 16 Pro battery will be 2.5% larger than the iPhone 15 Pro, which has a 3,274 mAh battery. The source points out that "the current-stage prototype has changed some aspects of its design, from a glossy surface to a metallic finish with a redesigned connector."
Previously, a report indicated that Apple was researching the use of graphene to improve the thermal conductivity of the iPhone 16, its heat dissipation system, and prevent the overheating issues that plagued the iPhone 15. Furthermore, the battery would also have a metal coating to help prevent the iPhone 16 series from overheating, especially during extended charging periods.
Graphene is a widely used material in the production of microchips, offering greater stiffness, lightness, and flexibility, with an estimated strength up to 200 times greater than steel. Furthermore, graphene has a thermal conductivity up to 10 times higher than copper.
