Doctor Vuong was born into a "poor family" in Gia Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district. In the land behind the sand dunes in front of the alluvial plains, he was tormented by Lao winds and storms all year round. His parents "worked hard to raise their children and educate them. Therefore, in the mind of the young Vuong, he always thought that he had to study to gain knowledge to support his parents and have a good future for himself.
Seeing his parents work hard and get sick, but due to economic conditions they could not get treatment, the desire to become a doctor grew inside him.
"My family was a farmer, and my hometown was plagued by natural disasters all year round, so my parents had to work very hard to raise their children, which led to many illnesses. At that time, my parents were so worried about me that they treated me carelessly, which led to my illness lingering. I hoped to become a doctor to treat my parents and help my hometown," Dr. Vuong recalled.

After many years of studying and researching in the lecture hall, Dr. Vuong returned to work at his home district hospital.
After nearly 6 years of studying and researching at Hue University of Medicine, in 2016, Dr. Vuong left the lecture hall to work at his home district hospital. As a young doctor without much practical experience, he could not help but worry. In addition to learning from his seniors, he spent a lot of time researching documents, thereby improving his professional skills. With accumulated knowledge and youthful enthusiasm, he always strives to fulfill his duties as a physician.
"Working with Dr. Vuong since the first days we both joined the unit, I saw him make efforts every day for the sake of his patients. It is that enthusiasm and dedication that motivates me and other colleagues to try harder," shared Dr. Nguyen Chi Ngoc, Deputy Head of the General Surgery Department.
From the days of being a novice to the long process of working, Doctor Vuong has many stories about his profession. He still remembers the times when he and his colleagues participated in the emergency room, when the patient's family members came in screaming and threatening, making the medical staff worried. In contrast, there was joy when the patient sent letters, wrote poems, and warmly thanked him after he recovered.

Doctor Vuong always tries to learn from colleagues' experiences, improve knowledge from documents and receive technical transfer from higher levels to serve medical examination and treatment.
"In many cases, when patients are brought to their families because they are too worried, they act excessively. We have to explain and counsel them so they understand. We are also scared, but we understand that people from our hometown do not have bad intentions but only care for the sick, so we do not blame them. We are also very happy because many patients even write poems and handwritten letters to the doctors," Dr. Vuong shared.
In addition to applying medical knowledge into practice, Dr. Vuong also recommended that hospital leaders invest in modern tools, machines, and equipment to perform difficult techniques. Be proactive in receiving medical technology transfer from higher levels to meet the needs of medical examination and treatment. At the same time, carry out many scientific research topics to apply to the practical activities of departments and rooms.
"I have been to the hospital many times so I know that the district hospital has changed a lot. The machines are now modern so doctors can examine quickly and treat quickly so people can feel secure. The doctors are enthusiastic, caring and instructing so the disease that used to flare up frequently in the past can now be completely cured," said Ms. Le Thi Thuc (57 years old).
"Helping people gives me the motivation to grow"
Doctor Vuong is the Secretary of the hospital's Youth Union and the Chairman of the Quang Ninh District Young Doctors Club. In addition to his professional duties, he is rarely absent from the unit's cultural and artistic activities. He is also a pioneer in organizing and calling for participation in volunteer activities.

"I always want to help people who are more disadvantaged and in more difficult situations than me. Union and club activities give me good conditions to fulfill that wish. I always hope that my small strength will make the lives of many people better," Dr. Vuong confided.
He and the District Young Physicians Club have organized many programs to examine and provide free medicine to people in disadvantaged areas, policy households, war invalids, heroic Vietnamese mothers, and ethnic minorities in mountainous and border areas. He has coordinated with the District Red Cross to establish a live blood bank at the hospital to be ready to supply blood for emergency and treatment work.

Dr. Vuong's charity journey is accompanied by colleagues and friends with the same passion.
Doctor Vuong also cooperated with philanthropists to establish and maintain a "Charity Kitchen" to support poor patients, and together with colleagues regularly called for, coordinated, and participated in the "Charity Tet" program and the "Warm Tet for Children" festival...
With enthusiasm in work and dynamism in social activities, Dr. Vuong has achieved the title of advanced worker, emulation fighter for many years, and received many certificates of merit from units.
