Doctors from Binh Dan Hospital urgently flew to Con Dao to save patients

Early in the morning of September 8, Dr. Nguyen Ta Quyet, Head of the Hepatobiliary Pancreas Department, Binh Dan Hospital, took the earliest flight to Con Dao to directly consult and provide emergency treatment for a patient with complex multiple trauma who had just been admitted to the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center.

The patient is a 17-year-old male student who was hit from behind by a car and fell 4 meters forward. He was taken to the Con Dao Military Medical Center for emergency treatment in a very serious condition after falling due to a traffic accident.

Bedside ultrasound results showed that the patient had a left kidney injury, and internal organ damage was monitored with a small amount of abdominal fluid localized in the lower abdomen. The patient had lost a lot of blood, so the doctors decided to resuscitate, administer fluids, closely monitor vital signs, abdominal condition, and place a urethral catheter for monitoring.

Abdominal computed tomography (MSCT) scan showed grade IV left kidney injury, grade III spleen injury, pancreatic tail contusion, pancreatic tail contusion monitoring and no damage to other organs such as bones, lungs, pleura. The patient was transfused with 1 unit of packed red blood cells and 4 units of plasma.

To enhance the patient's diagnosis and treatment, the Board of Directors of Binh Dan Hospital sent Dr. Nguyen Ta Quyet, Head of the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Department , to fly to Con Dao Special Zone to examine the patient. The patient is currently stable and continues to be monitored and cared for intensively.

Also on the morning of September 8, Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that the department had received the information and highly appreciated the decision of the Director of Binh Dan Hospital to send good specialist doctors to the Con Dao special zone mentioned above. This is the safest option for patients with closed abdominal trauma. Moreover, the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center currently has enough treatment equipment, especially the operating room and blood bank that have just been deployed by city hospitals for the Con Dao special zone.
