Discussing solutions for effectively implementing new-generation FTAs ​​to boost local economic growth.

On the morning of December 11th, in Tuy Hoa ward, the Institute of Economics and Management of the Central Highlands, in collaboration with the Social Policy Bank, organized a scientific seminar on the topic "Some solutions and recommendations for Dak Lak province in effectively implementing new generation FTAs ​​to promote local economic growth".

The seminar was chaired by Professor Nguyen Ngoc Tuyen, Director of the Central Highlands Institute of Economics and Management, and Ms. Tran Thi Tham, Deputy Director of the Dak Lak Provincial Branch of the Social Policy Bank. Scientists, economic experts, managers, representatives from banks, savings and loan groups, and a number of borrowers from the province participated.

In his opening remarks, Professor Nguyen Ngoc Tuyen stated that the seminar was an activity within the framework of the provincial-level scientific research project "Research on the impact of new generation free trade agreements (FTAs) on the economic growth of Dak Lak province, vision 2030," jointly implemented by the Central Highlands Institute of Economics and Management and the Institute for European and American Studies (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences).

This is an important study that helps the province clearly identify opportunities and challenges and develop appropriate policies to effectively utilize new-generation FTAs ​​such as the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Union (EVFTA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans- Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP) to promote local economic growth.

At the seminar, scientists, managers, and economic experts presented many in-depth papers analyzing the areas that Dak Lak can exploit when integrating into the global economy, especially fisheries and tourism - sectors that were formerly strengths of Phu Yen (now eastern Dak Lak).

The presentations highlighted the barriers that businesses and production households are facing in accessing tariff preferences and technical requirements from high-end markets, as well as proposing directions to improve product quality and increase export potential.

Delegates also shared some difficulties in the lending process for businesses and households engaged in export-oriented production and business. They also proposed simplifying loan procedures, providing incentives for green credit, strengthening training on integration knowledge, and supporting market connections to help people and businesses invest confidently and promote growth.

The seminar contributed to evaluating the effectiveness of the implementation of FTAs ​​in Dak Lak from 2020 to the present, and proposed many feasible solutions to help the locality leverage its advantages, enhance investment attraction, and promote sustainable economic growth until 2030.
