Handing over strange object with Chinese characters to the Navy

On the afternoon of December 19, An Hai Border Guard Station ( Phu Yen Province Border Guard Command) said that the station is currently completing procedures to hand over the strange object to the Vietnam Navy.

According to An Hai Border Guard Station, on the morning of December 18, while fishing, fisherman Tran Minh Thanh (40 years old, in Phuoc Dong village, An Hai commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen) discovered a strange object in his net, with Chinese characters on it. The location where the strange object was discovered was about 4 nautical miles from the shore.

Mr. Thanh brought the strange object to the Mai Nha prison area, more than 1.2 nautical miles from Phuoc Dong coast, then anchored the strange object to prevent it from drifting away and reported the incident to the authorities.

Immediately after receiving the fishermen's report, An Hai Border Guard Station sent its forces to coordinate with functional forces and local fishermen to bring the fishing boat to the area where the strange object was anchored to tow it to shore.

At around 10:00 a.m. on December 19, An Hai Border Guard Station and local fishermen coordinated to bring this strange object safely to the shore of Phuoc Dong village.

The strange object looked like a new torpedo, 6.8 m long, 54 cm in diameter, with an orange head, black body and a propeller system installed at the tail. There were Chinese characters on the strange object.

An Hai Border Guard Station, Dong Tuy An Police Station and An Hai Commune Government have assigned and arranged forces to protect the scene, waiting to hand over this strange object to the Vietnam Navy.
