The Ministry of Defense assigned the task of manufacturing weapons on ships.

On the morning of December 5, a conference was held in Hanoi to assign tasks for research, design and manufacture of weapons on ships. Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Minister of National Defense , chaired the conference.

Information at the conference said that recently, the General Department of Defense Industry and related agencies and units have drafted a set of preliminary technical and tactical performance indicators for weapons on ships, and are submitting them to the leaders of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army for approval.

Through analyzing the configuration and technical and tactical features of the weapons on the ship, along with the results of research projects, it can be affirmed that the design and manufacture of weapons on the ship is feasible.

At the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam emphasized that the weapons on the ship integrate many advanced technologies, with high scientific and technical content. Therefore, the General Department of Defense Industry needs to coordinate closely with strong units inside and outside the army. At the same time, international cooperation in research and technology transfer is needed.

Along with that, it is necessary to build a suitable and practical product development roadmap to effectively implement tasks, meeting the technical and tactical targets and features approved by competent authorities.

Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam also requested relevant agencies and units to coordinate and support the General Department of Defense Industry in the process of research, manufacturing, testing, as well as promptly resolve procedures arising during the performance of tasks.

Previously, Mr. Pham Hoai Nam also requested units in the Ministry of National Defense to soon complete the types of unmanned vehicles that are being researched and manufactured, to soon put them into production to equip the army; continue to research and improve the modern features of these products.

Coordinate with research institutes, schools, and units to build a team of qualified human resources, testing and inspection infrastructure; develop core and platform technologies. Military branches and services need to determine the need for unmanned vehicles, as a basis for orienting research and production in the Ministry of National Defense in the coming time.
