During the mission, the flight crew observed and detected fishing vessel targets from above, carried out operations, determined the coordinates of fishing vessels and groups of fishing vessels on the map, and at the same time informed the ships of the Vietnam Coast Guard about the location, direction, and operating trends of the vessels in the field to strictly control fishing vessels of fishermen exploiting seafood in the demarcated waters and overlapping waters with Malaysia and Indonesia.
In the coming time, the flight crew of Brigade 954 will maintain its forces and vehicles, coordinate with other units, and be ready to conduct patrol and IUU control flights.

Previously, on December 2, Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, chaired the meeting to deploy the 48th week's tasks of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee on IUU.
At the meeting, the Ministry of National Defense said that it has maintained more than 50 ships on duty at sea areas and used two seaplanes to patrol and control against IUU fishing 24/7 in adjacent sea areas.
Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao requested the functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, and units to continue to closely coordinate with localities, use synchronous measures with the highest determination; continue to study and increase the number of patrol and on-duty ships to improve the effectiveness of control at sea.
How modern is the DHC-6 seaplane?
According to announced information, the first DHC-6 seaplane was equipped and assigned to the Vietnam People's Navy Air Force on October 29, 2013 at Cam Ranh airport ( Khanh Hoa ).
The aircraft has a maximum weight of 5,670 kg, can carry 19 people, and has a service ceiling of 7,431 m. The maximum clock speed at an altitude of 2,000 m is 307 km/h and the maximum flight time is 6 hours and 51 minutes.
The DHC-6 features a high-wing design, dual-side floats and durable landing gear, allowing stable operation in a variety of harsh conditions. Equipped with two PT6A-34 turboprop engines, this seaplane ensures high safety and reliability, even in combat and supply operations in hard-to-reach areas.
The ability to take off and land directly on water is an outstanding strength, helping the DHC-6 deploy to small islands without runways. In addition, with a stable cruising speed, high flight ceiling and long operating time, the DHC-6 can maintain wide-area surveillance capabilities, from the mainland to the farthest points. This is a strategic advantage in protecting sovereignty, patrolling maritime security, as well as performing humanitarian and emergency rescue missions.
