The organizers of the 33rd SEA Games continue to create controversy regarding the incorrect display of national flags. In the 3x3 basketball schedule, the national flags of several countries, such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines, were displayed incorrectly.

The organizers mistakenly displayed the wrong flag, the Vietnamese flag (Screenshot).
Accordingly, the national flags of Vietnam and Laos were mistakenly displayed as the national flag of Indonesia, while the national flags of the Philippines and Malaysia were mistakenly displayed as the national flag of Thailand.
The images spread rapidly on social media and in Southeast Asian media. Many people were particularly concerned about the organization of the tournament. The mistake regarding the national flag was considered a very sensitive issue. The national flag is seen as a symbol of each country.
Notably, this is not the first time the organizers have mistakenly used the wrong national flag at the SEA Games 33. Previously, in the women's futsal schedule, the Thai flag was mistakenly used as the Vietnamese flag, and the Indonesian flag was mistakenly used as the Lao flag.

The organizers made a serious mistake during the SEA Games opening ceremony by displaying a map of Vietnam that omitted the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos and Phu Quoc Island, which are under Vietnam's sovereignty (Photo: Daily News).
During the SEA Games opening ceremony on the evening of December 9th, the organizing committee mistakenly displayed the Indonesian flag instead of the Singaporean flag in the introduction of the host nations. Furthermore, the host country also projected a map of Vietnam that omitted the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos and Phu Quoc Island, which are under Vietnamese sovereignty.
Following the repeated mishaps at the 33rd SEA Games, many believe that host country Thailand's organization was truly problematic. Even the Thai newspaper Siam Sports frankly criticized the host country's preparation and organization as "sloppy."
