At noon on June 3, the plane carrying Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian delegation landed at Noi Bai Airport, beginning an official visit to Vietnam from June 3-4 at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh .

Immediately after landing, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited RMIT University and had lunch at a restaurant in Hanoi's Old Quarter. Here, he and his colleagues enjoyed traditional Hanoi bread and draft beer - a familiar drink for the capital's people on hot summer days.

Enjoying a lunch with a strong Hanoi identity and an introduction to Vietnamese cuisine by chef Sam Tran - co-founder of Gia Restaurant, who spent nearly 10 years studying in Australia, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese raised his thumb when eating the first piece of bread, saying "Vietnamese bread is very delicious", drinking beer and shouting "1,2,3 cheers" with the people of the capital present at the restaurant.

Praising Vietnamese cuisine for its diverse and unique dishes, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese tried boiled peanuts, fish cakes, grilled pork belly and green bean curd. Each dish brought an unexpected experience to the Australian Prime Minister.

Enjoying beer and Hanoi bread with colleagues like the people of the capital, the friendliness of the Australian Prime Minister shows that the connection between the two countries is becoming increasingly closer.

The Australian Prime Minister's lunch lasted about 30-40 minutes. He shared that among the dishes today, he liked the fish cake the most and was delighted with the affection and hospitality of the Vietnamese people.

Vietnam is one of the Asian countries that imports a lot of high-quality food from Australia. More than 80% of Vietnam's wheat flour is imported from Australia. Many other agricultural products from the two countries are also exchanged, making the dishes of the two countries increasingly closer to the people.

This is Mr. Anthony Albanese's first official visit to Vietnam since taking office and just 2 months after the State visit of the Governor-General of Australia, demonstrating Australia's importance in relations with Vietnam.

During the visit, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian delegation will lay wreaths and visit President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; attend the official welcoming ceremony; hold a meeting between the two Prime Ministers; hold talks; exchange documents; meet the press; meet with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; visit and interact with the Australian and Vietnamese women's football teams with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; and attend an official reception.

The official visit to Vietnam by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese from June 3-4, 2023 will continue to contribute to strengthening political trust and promoting multi-faceted cooperation in politics - diplomacy, defense - security, economy, investment, labor, education, technology, climate change, people-to-people exchange... between Vietnam and Australia.
