Ensuring good progress of 500kV line through Lao Cai

After more than 3 months of construction, with the determination of the investor and contractor, the packages of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project through Lao Cai province are maintaining good progress.

3 shifts, 4 construction crews, erecting columns over 80m high, weighing hundreds of tons, in unpredictable weather conditions. All of this did not dampen the will of the workers who had been away from home for many days, rolling around on construction sites in the Northwest. Mr. Ha Van Binh said: "Moving on the columns is very dangerous, the working space is narrow but it forces us to try."

During the construction process on complex mountainous terrain, all stages from transportation, material gathering to foundation making, pole erection, wire tying, organization and coordination must be extremely smooth, ensuring safety. Mr. Pham Van Tan, Song Da Construction and Service Joint Stock Company shared: "We have focused all machinery, equipment and human resources to complete. Up to now, we are meeting the progress well."

The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project has a total line length of nearly 300km/468 tower locations.

Up to now, Package 1 has started pulling the first anchors from VT9 to VT16. This is also the package that is assessed to have the fastest construction progress on the entire route.

Along with the determination of investors and contractors, the participation of the entire political system to remove difficulties and obstacles in site clearance is extremely important. In particular, the process of arranging and merging the apparatus according to the 2-level local government model also encountered difficulties, but the localities were all highly determined. For example, in Thac Ba commune, 92 households were affected, but up to this point, the commune has handed over 35/35 column foundation positions to the construction unit.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh - Head of Economic Department, Thac Ba Commune, Lao Cai Province said: "We have advanced 80% of the money to households before building the foundations. Up to now, the plan has been approved to make a decision to recover. Now, we will continue to pay the remaining amount to households".

The Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project has a total length of nearly 300km/468 pole locations, passing through Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces. In Lao Cai province alone, 259/273 locations have completed foundation excavation, 99 locations have completed pole installation. The entire political system of the province is joining hands with the investor and contractor to speed up the progress to bring the project to the finish line before August 19 as directed by the Prime Minister.
