Trillions of VND have been invested in developing transportation infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City. Of the more than 200 transportation infrastructure projects with a total capital of 350,000 billion VND allocated to Ho Chi Minh City, up to 70% are concentrated in the eastern area. Projects contributing to increased connectivity with other areas include: the expansion of Hanoi Highway, the My Thuy and Dong Van Cong intersections, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, Mai Chi Tho boulevard, and the Thu Thiem 4 bridge project connecting to Cat Lai and Thanh My Loi…
Speaking at a recent seminar titled "Exploring Investment Opportunities - Anticipating Ho Chi Minh City's Development Plan," Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, a member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Group and former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics, commented that the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City, including Thu Duc City, will have a modern and well-connected infrastructure in the future, serving as a central hub connecting two international airports, along with an elevated railway line and a seaport. It will feature a green city, a sports center, and the characteristics of a world-class metropolis, a place worthy of living, contributing intellect, and fostering creativity.
Associate Professor Tran Dinh Thien (center) discusses with experts about the Eastern area - a new driving force of Ho Chi Minh City.
Four years ago, Ho Chi Minh City developed a strategy to establish Thu Duc City (the Eastern Creative Urban Area), based on the merger of Districts 2, 9, and Thu Duc. With a total natural area of approximately 21,000 hectares and a population of over one million people, Thu Duc became Vietnam's first "city within a city".
According to the expert, Ho Chi Minh City is being given special mechanisms and strategic solutions to achieve breakthroughs. The city is being oriented towards becoming a megacity, a super-fast locomotive leading the development of the entire South. The image of the Southeast region and Ho Chi Minh City is becoming increasingly bright and ambitious.
The Eastern region has significant growth potential thanks to its strategic planning and strong investment in transportation infrastructure.
Alongside the city's key infrastructure projects, real estate developers have been implementing projects that are now considered to have contributed to shaping the infrastructure landscape of this eastern part of the city. Examples include Masterise Homes with the international standard mixed-use urban complex The Global City (Do Xuan Hop Street, An Phu Ward, District 2); The Rivus - the most prestigious Elie Saab luxury villa complex in Vietnam; the high-end compound Masteri Centre Point; and the green apartment complex Lumière Boulevard (Grand Park mega-urban area)...
The Global City is an international-standard mixed-use urban complex spanning 117.4 hectares, strategically located in An Phu Ward, Thu Duc City. The Global City is expected to become an iconic urban area throughout Southeast Asia and a new center of Ho Chi Minh City, boasting a diverse range of modern entertainment, shopping, and recreational amenities, most notably the largest outdoor musical fountain in Southeast Asia and City Park – a newly launched entertainment and sports complex. Events at The Global City attract tens of thousands of visitors during festivals.
Project subdivisions such as SOHO - an international standard commercial townhouse area - have been completed and handed over. Future subdivisions will include: townhouses with gardens, high-rise buildings, office buildings, villas, etc. It is estimated that upon completion, the project will attract 40,000 residents and 20,400 employees working in the office buildings.
The Global City boasts a central location connecting key areas in the East of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to experts, many key projects in the East will create momentum for the development of The Global City, including: Lien Phuong road connecting The Global City with key surrounding areas, An Phu intersection expected to be completed in 2025, Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3, Long Thanh International Airport… From the urban area, residents can also easily connect to key provinces in the South such as Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long An and Tien Giang.

The Global City is being developed with the vision of becoming the new center of Ho Chi Minh City.
Experts believe that high-quality, well-planned real estate projects by reputable developers will meet the housing and employment needs of a large number of talented and wealthy individuals in Ho Chi Minh City, the "economic powerhouse," in the future. According to the "Provincial Public Administration and Governance Performance Index (PAPI) in Vietnam" report, Ho Chi Minh City tops the list of localities that people nationwide want to live in.
Real estate not only meets housing needs but is also a potential investment segment, especially given that deposit interest rates are at their lowest levels in many years. Mr. Hoang Cong Tuan, a Wealth Management expert at Techcombank, believes that in the future, central banks around the world may lower interest rates, creating a favorable environment for asset markets, including the financial and real estate markets.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Pham Thien Quang - Director of Asset Management Consulting at Techcombank, believes that the upcoming policies of the US Federal Reserve (FED) will be beneficial to the entire global financial market, including Vietnam. In this context, real estate remains a preferred investment channel for many investors.
