Group of young people arrested for renting hotel to use drugs

Cam Ranh City Police have just caught a group of young men and women residing in localities in the province renting hotels in the area to use drugs.

According to the Economic and Drug Crime Investigation Police Team of Cam Ranh City Police, through the process of collecting information from the grassroots, in recent times, in some inner-city wards such as Cam Thuan, Cam Loi, Ba Ngoi, some drug addicts and party-goers often go to some hotels and karaoke bars to use drugs, negatively affecting the security and order situation in the area. Therefore, the leaders of the City Police have directed officers and detectives of the Economic and Drug Crime Investigation Police Team to organize the eradication and arrest of the subjects.

At midnight one day in late July, the reconnaissance team discovered a group of suspects approaching the TM Hotel on National Highway 1, through Cam Thuan Ward, so they followed them. Through the license plates of the subjects' motorbikes, the detectives identified a number of major suspects, including Nguyen Huu Co (born in 1997, residing in Cam Duc Town, Cam Lam District), Nguyen Thi Tuyen Em (born in 1999, residing in Dong Hai Ward, Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province), Nguyen Khac Cuong (born in 1994, residing in Tan Quy Village, Cam Thanh Bac Commune, Cam Lam) who are all heavy drug addicts. In addition, there were 2 other young men also riding motorbikes, approaching the TM Hotel.

After renting a room on the first floor of the hotel, the group turned on the loud speakers and used ecstasy and snorted methamphetamine. At this time, the reconnaissance team of the Economic Crime Investigation Police - Drugs of Cam Ranh City Police was also reinforced and organized a raid. The group of users were high on drugs when officers and reconnaissance officers suddenly appeared. The anti-drug crime force seized the evidence and brought the group to the headquarters for questioning. During the investigation and hot-tap exploitation, Co confessed that he and his friends had pooled money to buy methamphetamine and ecstasy from Tran Quoc Vuong (born in 1983, residing in Cam Thuan ward, Cam Ranh). Before being caught red-handed at the TM hotel, the group went to a karaoke bar in Cam Phu ward to use drugs. Fearing exposure, the group continued to go to the TM hotel to rent a room and use drugs, but were surrounded and arrested by the police.

According to the suspects' statements, the next day, Tran Quoc Vuong was arrested by the Cam Ranh City Police's anti-drug crime force while on his way to sell drugs to addicts. Searching the suspect, the police seized a bag of drugs and 5 ecstasy pills. Searching Vuong's residence, the Cam Ranh City Police Investigation Agency seized 2 more bags of drugs, 14 ecstasy pills, 1 small scale and many objects the suspect used to package and break down drugs before selling them to addicts in the area. At the investigation agency, Vuong stated that he had ordered the drugs from a subject named Ky (unknown background, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) and that this subject had delivered the drugs to Cam Ranh for Vuong using the long-distance passenger bus delivery service.

Continuing to check the trunk of Nguyen Khac Cuong's motorbike which was parked in his rented room in Cam Loi ward, the anti-drug crime force of Cam Ranh City Police seized 2 bags of drugs. Cuong stated that he bought these drugs in Nha Trang for his own use.

With the evidence and material evidence seized, the Cam Ranh City Police Investigation Agency issued decisions to prosecute Nguyen Huu Co and Nguyen Thi Tuyen Em for organizing illegal drug use; prosecute Tran Quoc Vuong for illegal drug trafficking; and prosecute Nguyen Khac Cuong for illegal drug possession.
