On October 22, US President Joe Biden stated that Republican candidate Donald Trump is a threat to democracy and should be " politically banned."
Speaking from a Democratic campaign rally in Concord, New Hampshire, President Biden said: "We have to lock him up. Politically lock him up. Lock him out. That's what we have to do."

Biden claims his predecessor intended to downplay the protections of the U.S. Constitution. According to Biden, American democracy would be threatened if Trump defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Following this, the former President Trump's campaign quickly criticized the recent investigations into Trump by the Democrats as politically motivated. "Joe Biden has just admitted the truth: he and Kamala Harris planned from the beginning to politically suppress their opponent [former President Trump] because they couldn't defeat him fairly and squarely," said Karoline Leavitt, spokesperson for the former President Trump's campaign, in a statement. "The Harris-Biden administration is a real threat to democracy. We urge Kamala Harris to condemn Joe Biden's shameful statement," CNN quoted Leavitt as saying. Previously, during the 2016 election campaign, Trump supporters often chanted "lock her up," referring to his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton. At the time, Trump did not stop the crowd from chanting that slogan. This year, at rallies supporting Harris, the crowd occasionally chanted "lock him up," referring to former President Trump, who was convicted of 34 counts in the hush money case involving a pornographic film star. Trump also faces accusations of attempting to overturn his 2020 election defeat. However, Vice President Harris has stopped these chants. Harris said that the U.S. Department of Justice would find a way to resolve the issue and that she would defeat Trump through the ballots.
