At the ceremony, Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung read a speech recalling the historic moment of 300 days of moving troops to the North at Quy Nhon Port.
After the Dien Bien Phu victory, the Geneva Agreement was signed, opening a new turning point in the nation’s history. At this time, the Party Central Committee and Uncle Ho decided to arrange a group of cadres and party members to stay in the South to continue leading the fight; at the same time, tens of thousands of compatriots and children of revolutionary families accompanied the troops and cadres to the North to continue studying, working, and training…

With its important strategic location, Quy Nhon Port (Binh Dinh province) was chosen as one of the areas to gather and transfer troops and people to the North.
Thanks to the joint efforts, unanimity and careful preparation, Binh Dinh successfully transported 20,000 people from the Central Highlands to the North through Quy Nhon port safely. On May 16, 1955, the last ship completed this historic mission.

To commemorate and pay tribute to this event, Binh Dinh province built a monument symbol at Quy Nhon Port in 2004, which was ranked as a provincial monument in 2007. During the 70th anniversary celebration, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded the National Monument ranking certificate to this project.

At the ceremony, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that Binh Dinh province continue to promote the revolutionary tradition and historical significance of the 300-day event of regrouping to the North.
Binh Dinh and the provinces of the former Inter-Zone V continue to strengthen cooperation, connect more closely, maximize the strength and advantages of each locality to support each other and unite for development...

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also suggested that Binh Dinh should further exploit and promote the value of Quy Nhon Port Relic; turn this place into a "red address"to educate history and revolutionary traditions for all people and the young generation; become a traditional living place for all classes of people and an attractive tourist destination...

On this occasion, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia acknowledged and highly appreciated the development achievements of Binh Dinh province in recent times.
