Binh Thuan to host 3-Cushion Carom World Championship 2024

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just signed a document assigning the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation and relevant units to proactively implement and prepare the necessary conditions for organizing the 2024 World 3-Cushion Carom Championship and the annual General Assembly meeting of the World Billiards Federation.

Earlier, in mid-June, the Provincial People's Committee and relevant units, together with the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation, held a meeting to discuss selecting Binh Thuan as the venue for the 2024 World 3-Cushion Carom Championship and the annual General Assembly meeting of the World Billiards Federation in September 2024.

In September 2022, the World Billiards Federation (UMB) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation, granting the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation the right to host the 2024 World Championship 3 -Cushion Carom Championship.

Recently, Binh Thuan has frequently been entrusted by the General Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation to host many national billiards tournaments. The meticulous and enthusiastic organization of these tournaments has been highly appreciated by participating managers and organizations, leaving many positive impressions. For these reasons, the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation has confidently chosen Binh Thuan to host the World Championship 3-Cushion and the annual UMB General Assembly meeting in September 2024. This is the most prestigious and high-quality tournament in the UMB competition system. The UMB is the world's highest governing body for carom billiards, recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The tournament is held annually, starting in 1928, and this is the first time Vietnam has had the honor of hosting it.

The World Championship 3-Cushion is a tournament that brings together the world's top 3-cushion carom billiards players and will take place over 5 days with a total prize pool of 118,000 EUR. The annual UMB General Assembly meeting is usually held within the framework of the annual 3-Cushion Carom World Championship. Attendees include leaders of continental and national federations within the UMB system. The meeting will take place during the tournament (1 day).

In order to contribute to promoting the image of Binh Thuan in general and Binh Thuan tourism to international friends through the organization of the World Championship 3-Cushion and the annual UMB General Assembly meeting, the Party Committee of the People's Committee of the province reports to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to request permission to host the 2024 World 3-Cushion Carom Championship and the annual General Assembly meeting of the World Billiard Federation in Binh Thuan.
