On November 10, the Department of Food Safety ( Ministry of Health ) sent a dispatch to the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City regarding the investigation and handling of a suspected food poisoning case after eating bread.
The Food Safety Department said that it had received information that a number of people in Hanh Thong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City were hospitalized for suspected food poisoning after eating bread. After eating, these people experienced symptoms of stomachache, diarrhea, and high fever and were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Immediately after the incident, the Food Safety Department coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to request a quick report on the poisoning incident, closely monitor the situation and deploy solutions to ensure the health of the poisoned people and prevent similar incidents from happening.

The Food Safety Department recommends that hospitals with patients being treated focus resources on actively treating food poisoning patients, not allowing it to affect their health and lives.
Units shall organize investigations and trace the origin of food to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; take food and specimen samples for testing to find the cause; investigate and strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any), and publicize the results to promptly warn the community.
The Food Safety Department also requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety to strictly implement the Ministry of Health 's instructions on strengthening food safety, preventing fake food and food poisoning; strengthening food safety in schools and collective kitchens; ensuring food safety, preventing food poisoning and foodborne diseases in the area by 2025.
At the same time, units should strengthen propaganda and guidance for food service establishments to ensure food safety conditions, strictly control the origin and source of food ingredients, ensure hygiene throughout the process of food preparation, processing, transportation, three-step food inspection, and food sample storage.
Regarding the suspected food poisoning after eating bread at a bakery on Nguyen Thai Son Street (Hanh Thong Ward) and Le Quang Dinh Street (Binh Loi Trung Ward), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that as of 8:00 a.m. on November 10, there were a total of 235 cases from 13 hospitals, of which 96 were being treated as inpatients.
Currently, most of the cases are temporarily stable, 1 severe case due to underlying disease is being actively treated at Gia Dinh People's Hospital.
