In recent times, Southeast Asian football has had major changes in the coaching bench. Strong teams like Thailand and Indonesia have both fired coaches Masatada Ishii and Patrick Kluivert. They both want to add a new coach as soon as possible to stabilize the squad.

In that context, Thai and Indonesian media both mentioned Coach Park Hang Seo as a potential candidate for the head coach position of the national team. The Korean coach is very prestigious as he has achieved great success with the Vietnamese team.
Thairath newspaper considers Coach Park Hang Seo as a strong candidate to take over the “hot seat” left by Coach Masatada Ishii. Commenting on the Korean coach, the leading Thai newspaper wrote: “Coach Park Hang Seo has helped the Vietnamese team achieve great success, notably winning the 2018 AFF Cup.
He has not returned to the coaching bench since leaving the Vietnam national team in January 2023. He is knowledgeable about Southeast Asian football at both youth and national team levels. He has held both the roles of head coach of the national team and U23 Vietnam.

Two other notable candidates to lead the Thai team are coach Shin Tae Yong and Anthony Hudson (Technical Director of the Football Association of Thailand).
Meanwhile, commenting on CNN Indonesia, expert Supriyono Prima said that Coach Park Hang Seo is the right person to replace Coach Kluivert in the Indonesian team. He shared: “I want Coach Park Hang Seo to lead the Indonesian team.
Vietnamese football has put its trust in him and has achieved success. The teams led by Coach Park Hang Seo have played with all their might, regardless of age. Importantly, the Korean coach understands Southeast Asian football well. He can restore the fighting spirit and discipline of the players.”
