Actual records from the Ba Loi culvert to Huyen Ke canal show that many areas have only had reinforced soil on both sides of the road, the dike surface is roughly leveled with sand, and easily gets muddy when it rains.

The project has basically completed the section from the border of the old Soc Trang province to Ba Loi sluice (23km long). Particularly, the section from Ba Loi canal to Huyen Ke canal (nearly 14km, total investment capital of over 288 billion VND), according to the plan to be completed by the end of 2023, but to date is still unfinished.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam, Deputy Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Agricultural and Rural Development Works in Bac Lieu Province, said that the delay was due to land issues and some households preventing the construction. Currently, the unit is coordinating with the locality to organize construction protection in Dong Hai Commune and will continue to deploy in Long Dien Commune after receiving a plan announcement from the government.
