Singer Kieu Nga: Being a single mother for many years, her last wish is unfulfilled

Singer Kieu Nga left the stage for many years because she wanted to fulfill her responsibility to her children. At the end of her life, she wanted to return to Vietnam to perform shows and serve the audience, but her wish remained unfulfilled.

Singer Kieu Nga passed away on the afternoon of July 13 (California time) after more than a week in a coma due to a stroke. Her passing left many colleagues shocked and saddened.

Singers Khanh Ly, Son Tuyen, Quang Dung, Bang Kieu, Duong Trieu Vu, musician Nguyen Quang... expressed their condolences and prayed for her to pass away peacefully.

Singer Trizzie Phuong Trinh emotionally recounted that one day before Kieu Nga passed away, she and singer Ngoc Anh visited her in the hospital. They both sang and encouraged their senior to get well soon.

Trizzie and Kieu Nga also promised each other about a mini show but before they could do it, the senior left in a hurry.

Living a private life, being a single mother for many years

In the memories of many audiences, Kieu Nga is associated with a youthful, fresh and charming image. If Ngoc Lan's voice is likened to "smoke and mist", Kieu Nga is like a cool breeze.

Both were an integral part of the golden age of overseas music - where beauty, romance, novelty and nostalgia blended together.

The female singer is one of the few voices that can take listeners to sublimation through lyrical French songs that audiences think they can only hear from the splendid Paris.

"A voice that has accompanied the youth of many generations, touched the most private moments, is now silent, leaving a void in the hearts of many people," Trung Nguyen - a fan of the singer emotionally expressed.

Famous in her youth, Kieu Nga has lived a private life in middle age. She was married but soon divorced due to disagreements in life. For many years, the singer was a single mother, taking care of her children alone.

Being good at foreign languages and quick-witted, Kieu Nga was accepted to do office work at a company near her home.

The income from this job is quite good, helping the female singer live comfortably with her daughter. Later, Kieu Nga moved in with her sister for the convenience of her daughter's living and studying.

Occasionally, she sang at some venues in Orange County with the main spirit of contributing to the fun. During the time she left the stage, Kieu Nga received many offers to return to perform and do shows, but she politely refused.

Unfulfilled last wish

Singer Kieu Nga was meticulous and maintained her artistic dignity until the end of her life.

Sharing with VietNamNet , singer Quang Thanh said Kieu Nga is a very meticulous person and conscious of preserving her image.

There are shows where she is willing to not accept payment because of affection, but where there is chaos or harassment, the singer is willing to leave.

“Kieu Nga is very artistic and always maintains her dignity. For that reason, her image in the eyes of overseas Vietnamese is still as complete and beautiful as before.

Even though she rarely appears, Kieu Nga is still a symbol in everyone's eyes," Quang Thanh said.

Thanks to her straightforward and emotional personality, Kieu Nga is very popular with her colleagues in the industry. Although famous singer Khanh Ly is 15 years older than her, she still loves and cherishes her like a real sister.

When they were young, the trio Thanh Tuyen - Khanh Ly - Giao Linh, plus Kieu Nga, performed at many large and small stage venues. Singing together in many places, they did not think about competing, but instead supported and protected each other like a family.

Later, although they had few opportunities to meet, the singers still had feelings for each other and called each other sincerely.

Every time Khanh Ly returned to Vietnam to sing, she really wanted to invite Kieu Nga to participate in the show, or to accompany her in the charity project "Vong Tay Nhan Ai" . However, the singer sadly refused for family reasons.

In showbiz, there are rumors that Kieu Nga is "bored with her career and doesn't want to sing" after the shock of her close friend - famous singer Ngoc Lan passing away.

However, according to Quang Thanh, this is only partly true, the more accurate reason is that she does not want to be away from her child.

During her lifetime, Kieu Nga loved her child very much and was afraid that no one would take better care of her child than her, so she decided to quit her singing career to fulfill her role as a mother.

"Overseas, many colleagues have their children sent to someone else to look after so they can sing, but Kieu Nga is not like that. She is willing to give up everything to fulfill her mission," Quang Thanh said.

Later, when she grew up, many friends and colleagues encouraged Kieu Nga to return.

The singer also cherishes performing shows, returning to his homeland Vietnam to organize a well-organized and methodical show.

"But everything was left unfinished, even though it was planned. I think this is what Kieu Nga regrets most in her career," the singer revealed.

Kieu Nga's real name is Pham Thi Kieu Nga, born in 1960. She grew up in an artistic family with her brother, famous singer Elvis Phuong.

Kieu Nga became famous in the 1980s with New Wave music. The combination of the female singer and famous singer Ngoc Lan made both of them a "phenomenon" at that time on overseas music stages.
