On the evening of December 5 at Lam Vien Square, Da Lat ( Lam Dong ), Miss Universe Vietnam Nguyen Hoang Phuong Linh performed in The Rising Dragon costume by designer Nguyen Duy Hau. Inspired by the image of a carp transforming into a dragon, the costume weighed an estimated 15-20kg combined with harsh weather conditions - temperature of 14 degrees Celsius and strong winds - creating a big challenge for Phuong Linh.
Audiences present at the event and watching via livestream all noticed the beauty's struggle when moving on the catwalk. Strong winds continuously blew into the large wings behind, forcing Phuong Linh to brace herself to keep her balance, moving each step carefully.

After the performance, the online community had mixed opinions about the design. Some viewers thought the costume was too bulky and detailed compared to the criteria of a normal carnival costume.
Compared to the design announced in the press conference and rehearsal, many people noticed that the final version had been added, especially the long skirt and the heavy dragon head. This unintentionally reduced the flexibility, making it difficult for the wearer to perform dance moves and move to the beat of the music.

Despite the difficulties, Phuong Linh still tried to complete her performance. Some people were worried about her health as she had to wait for a long time in the cold night, wearing only thin clothes before going on stage.
Some experts question the decision of the Miss Cosmo Organizing Committee to hold an outdoor event in Da Lat during the cold season.
