At Viet Duc High School ( Hanoi ), candidates began arriving at 1 PM to prepare for the 2024 high school graduation exam registration process.
The school's preparations were completed well in advance. Information boards displaying candidate numbers and signs directing students to their examination rooms were arranged in an easily visible manner. Volunteers were present from early on to guide candidates to their rooms for registration procedures.

Nguyen Quang Vu, a 12th-grade physics student from the High School for Gifted Students affiliated with the University of Education, was one of the first candidates to arrive at the Luong The Vinh examination center. He arrived at noon.
"This year I aspire to apply to Hanoi University of Pharmacy. Besides that, I also aspire to attend Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Foreign Trade University."
"The most important thing is to pass the minimum score required by these schools. I'm not putting too much pressure on myself to get high scores; what's important is that I try my best," Vu shared.
From 1 PM onwards, a large number of candidates had gathered at the Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School examination site, waiting to complete the procedures for the 2024 high school graduation exam.
Candidates brought their exam notification slips and study materials, taking advantage of the time with less than 24 hours remaining before the first exam.
The students, dressed in their uniforms and neat attire, showed a serious attitude before the important exam after 12 years of studying.

Tran Nhat Minh – a student from the Foreign Language Specialized High School – also said he felt quite relaxed before the exam because he only needed to meet the minimum score requirement. Minh was admitted to the Foreign Trade University of Hanoi thanks to his SAT score of 1450 combined with an IELTS certificate of 7.5.
This year, Luong The Vinh High School has 31 main examination rooms, 2 reserve examination rooms, and 744 candidates. No candidates have required special assistance so far.
Mr. Hoang Khoi Lai, Head of the examination center, said that all preparations for tomorrow's official exam have been completed in accordance with regulations. The examination center has two police officers and one security officer inside.
The outer perimeter was manned by law enforcement officers deployed by the district and ward. In examination room number 34, a candidate mistakenly sat in the wrong room, confusing room number 34 with room number 43.
On this occasion, the invigilator reminded the candidates to pay special attention to the exam room number, to avoid confusion between the exam room for tomorrow and the exam room for the combined subject exam.

According to data from the Ministry of Education and Training , this year's high school graduation exam has 1,071,393 registered candidates, an increase of more than 45,000 compared to 2023. Of these, 46,978 are independent candidates, accounting for 4.38%.
Across the country, 2,323 examination centers have been set up, an increase of 51 centers compared to last year.
Hanoi continues to have the highest number of high school graduation exam candidates with 109,078, 34 times more than Bac Kan.
The next four positions are Ho Chi Minh City (90,062), Thanh Hoa (38,775), Nghe An (37,044) and Dong Nai (34,088).
The objectives of this year's high school graduation exam remain unchanged from previous years. The exam results serve the purpose of determining high school graduation, providing a basis for university and college admissions, and evaluating the quality of management, teaching, and learning at educational institutions.
Given its importance, complexity, and sensitivity, the exam always receives significant attention from society.
The exam takes place at the end of June and beginning of July each year, a time when the weather across the country often experiences extreme conditions, ranging from intense heat to thunderstorms, typhoons, and floods. This poses significant challenges to organizing the exam.
Speaking to the press on June 24th, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong – Head of the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Examination – affirmed that the entire country has made thorough, proactive, and complete preparations, ready to organize the examination safely, seriously, in accordance with regulations and practical implementation.
The guiding principle of the exam is to prioritize the students, ensuring that students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds and remote areas, can take the exam. No candidate should be prevented from reaching the exam site due to economic difficulties or transportation challenges.
The Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Examination in each locality is to thoroughly implement the "4 Right - 3 No" principle during the examination process.
The four "Right" aspects include: Adherence to examination regulations and guidelines; adherence to proper and complete procedures; fulfilling assigned duties and responsibilities correctly; and timely handling of unusual situations and incidents.
3. Don'ts: Don't be careless or overconfident; Don't be overly tense or stressed; Don't handle unexpected situations or incidents on your own.
Deputy Minister Thuong emphasized that all stages must be thorough and friendly, fostering camaraderie among exam staff, and between teachers, staff, and students, so that students can enter the examination room with the most relaxed and comfortable mindset.
